What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Staff welcome children to the camp as they arrive eagerly and excitedly for activities to start and to join their group. Parents and carers of children who use this setting speak highly of how staff communicate with them, especially when it is the first time they have used the camp. They feel confident with the staff who are assigned to look after their children.

Staff are on hand at drop-off times to quickly settle children into groups of their familiar friends. On arrival, children eagerly check the timetable of activities on offer, sharing what they like to do with staff at registration. This creates a positive atmosphere for ch...ildren to be ready to start their day.

Children are learning to be independent. Staff encourage this by giving them age-appropriate tasks to complete. For example, children refill their own water bottles throughout the session.

Children enjoy being physically active and part of a team, as older children work as a team during activities, such as archery, eagerly trying to better each other's score. Younger children support each other during relay races as they balance balls on rackets or playing hide and seek with staff. This supports children's physical skills and good sportsmanship.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The provider has improved and met all the actions from the previous inspection. The manager and staff tam assess all risks relating to activities to minimise any hazards to children. Staff regularly complete various headcounts of children as they move from one area to another.

Staff are deployed effectively, and robust procedures are in place to ensure that the younger children are always supervised by staff to help promote their safety.Staff are knowledgeable about their responsibility to keep children safe. They know the procedure to follow if a child has an accident.

Staff ensure that children's emergency medication and care plans are always on hand. The manager and staff team complete risk assessments on all activities to ensure they are appropriate and safe for all children. The manager monitors the performance of all staff effectively.

They lead in-depth induction days and meetings to help support staff to fully understand their roles and responsibilities, prior to the start of camp. Staff welcome the ongoing support they receive from the management team and the ongoing professional development they receive.Overall, staff interact positively with all children.

They join in to help motivate children and to have fun. However, occasionally, some children spend too long waiting for some activities to begin as staff are not fully prepared for the activity planned, and waiting times between activities can be too long with nothing for the children to do. Therefore, children become distracted while waiting.

However, this does not impact on children's behaviour as they behave well.Children show excitement and enjoyment. They are physically active and show a positive attitude when they participate in a range of activities.

Older children enthusiastically run and dodge each other as they play 'tag'. Younger children eagerly enjoy parachute games to develop their physical abilities. They learn skills which help them to be good team players, take turns and have patience.

Staff encourage and praise children for their efforts to further promote their self-esteem. Staff regularly remind children to have a drink of water during physical activities to help keep them hydrated.Staff support children to develop healthy lifestyles.

Children enjoy regular fresh air and exercise. Children are supported to make healthy choices during snack and lunchtimes. Younger children enjoy different games to support their understanding of healthy foods.

However, at times during activities staff do not recognise when children are no longer interested. They do not use these opportunities for children to share their interests and make choices for what they would like to play next.Parents comment that they are very happy with the camp and that there is effective communication between them and the staff.

They say that their children are very enthusiastic to share their experiences at the end of the day, and eager to get to the camp each morning. Partnership with parents is effective.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The provider has updated the company safeguarding policy and introduced effective ways to gather staff's understanding of safeguarding following the previous inspection. Staff have a secure knowledge of safeguarding and know the referral process to follow if they have concerns about a child's welfare. They regularly update their safeguarding knowledge through training and meetings.

The provider has robust recruitment processes in place to ensure that all new staff are thoroughly vetted. New staff receive an in-depth induction, which includes familiarising themselves with the company's relevant procedures and attending intense assessment training days. All staff have a thorough induction before each camp starts to ensure that their safeguarding knowledge is up to date.
