Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • Strong and supportive leadership is in place and this helps to guide the clear vision for the nursery's continued improvement. Feedback from staff and parents is used well to drive changes. Staff work effectively as a team to develop the provision.

• All groups of children make good progress. Staff ensure that they prepare older children well to start school. For example, in the pre-school room, they deliver carefully planned daily activities to help promote children's good literacy skills.

• Staff are caring and attentive to children's individual needs. As a result, children develop warm and trusting relationships, not only with their key person... but with other staff and children. • Staff observe, track and monitor children's learning and development effectively.

They accurately highlight children's progress and plan for children's individual next steps in learning. • Partnerships with parents are strong. Parents speak highly of the nursery and are happy with the progress their children make.

Good links with the schools children will attend help ensure a consistent approach to support for their development. • The manager's systems for overseeing the quality of teaching do not evaluate the impact of staff practice rigorously enough to raise the level even higher. • Staff have not fully developed the range of learning opportunities for children who prefer to play and learn outdoors.
