What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Children receive the very best start to their education in this warm and caring setting. They access a wide selection of exciting and motivating activities.

These really ignite children's curiosity and enable them to follow their interests. Staff have very high expectations for all children. For example, staff expertly support children as they try to bang nails into wood with hammers.

Children show great delight as they master this new skill. They persist until they successfully hammer in the nails, showing exceptional hand-eye coordination. Children make consistently significant progress.

They learn ne...w vocabulary rapidly as staff use rich language with them. Pre-school children learn about authors and illustrators when they share stories with staff. They are deeply engaged in learning as they explore the different role play areas.

Children create and draw plans for buildings in the construction area. They learn about the value of numbers in the play shop and home corner.Children behave exceptionally well and are very settled and confident.

They are content and thriving as they have warm and caring bonds with their key people. They know that all of the staff truly care for and respect them. Babies and toddlers chatter happily as they explore indoors and outdoors.

Children follow the setting's routines calmly and knowledgeably because staff have planned them brilliantly to meet each child's needs. Children enjoy caring for the setting's pets and are very gentle as they cuddle the rabbit.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The expertly sequenced curriculum ensures that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make excellent progress.

The managers and staff carefully plan activities that enable children to confidently acquire skills in all areas of learning. Older children benefit greatly from the intensive small-group activities. These focus closely on their maths and literacy skills and ensure they gain the skills they will need for their move on to school.

Maths is skilfully interwoven through activities for all age groups. Toddlers learn the names of shapes as they excitedly explore the sand. Older children learn that numbers change when they add one more item to a group when counting out nails.

As children concentrate on their learning, staff observe them. Staff use their wealth of knowledge and experience to use the information gathered to accurately assess what children have achieved. Staff then set perfect targets to help each child move on.

The managers meet with staff regularly to make sure no child's development is left behind. This means children who may need additional support are identified quickly. Staff use highly effective strategies to support these children.

They work in close partnership with outside agencies. This helps to close any gaps in children's learning very effectively.Children are immersed in a language-rich environment.

Staff expertly build children's speech and language skills through meaningful conversations. Staff show a genuine interest in what children say. Children share experiences from home and recall what they know.

They accurately label two- and three-dimensional shapes. They then create words such as 'tentagon' as they explore what a ten-sided shape might be called. Children love listening to stories and discuss in high detail what is happening.

Babies and toddlers eagerly and happily join in with rhymes using actions and words, showing their considerable knowledge.Managers and staff have forged strong links within the local community. Pre-school children join their friends from the Reception class at the school in highly exciting and inspiring forest school sessions.

This supports their transition on to school superbly as they make friends and gain confidence with new experiences. Children with SEND gain exceptional confidence, as they learn to take risks and develop their physical skills excellently. The manager has high expectations of staff and holds them in high regard.

She is extremely supportive of the staff and highly effective at reflecting on their practice. She leads their development further through regular in-depth supervision meetings and clear targets for training. The manager works closely with the local authority and other local providers to share her setting's outstanding practice.

This collaborative working also helps to provide further ideas for her own practice, helping all children to have the best outcomes they can.Partnerships with parents are extremely effective. The manager works closely with the local health visitor to support families as needed.

Parents feel well informed about their children's progress and next steps. They are confident to speak to staff if they have any concerns. Parents are highly involved in the setting and are frequently invited in to share their children's learning.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. All staff demonstrate an extremely thorough knowledge of safeguarding. They confidently talk about how to keep children safe from harm.

Staff can clearly identify signs and symptoms of abuse, including wider issues related to how radical views and drug trafficking might have an impact on young children and their families. The manager ensures that all staff's knowledge is current and effective through excellent training and meetings. Staff recruitment processes are robust, and the manager has very effective systems to ensure staff always remain suitable for their role.
