This provision meets requirements Children are warmly greeted by staff as they arrive at the club. They are keen to talk about their school day and staff listen to them with interest.

Children understand the club's routines and rules. They place their belongings in a designated area before they play. Children take care of the toys and resources that have been set out in the room.

Staff ensure that there is a good selection of resources to interest the children of different ages that attend. Staff are quick to respond when children ask for a favourite toy from the store cupboard. Children behave well and show good levels of cooperation.

Any minor c...onflicts are managed well by staff so that children learn the importance of sharing popular resources and being kind to each other. Staff place a high priority on promoting children's confidence to help them become more independent. They observe that some children have needed more support because of the restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a consequence, staff have reviewed how they plan the sessions. They have extended the opportunities for children to build their confidence by learning new skills. For example, children have opportunities to make their own sandwiches and wraps.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The recently appointed manager is ambitious to develop the services that the club offers.
