Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Leaders, including governors and trustees, have taken decisive and effective action to eradicate weak teaching after a significant period of instability.

Improvements in teaching and learning are accelerating the progress pupils are making. This is addressing past underachievement at the school and is raising attainment, particularly in key stage 1. Staff effectively promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and help them to be caring and responsible individuals.

The school provides a caring, warm and welcoming environment where pupils are happy. Relationships between adults and pupils are strong and contribute to ...pupils' willingness to learn. Pupils behave well and those with behavioural difficulties are well managed by the school.

The needs of pupils who have special educational needs are well met. Leaders have secured improvements in attendance and punctuality through rigorously following up absences and providing effective support for parents to help them improve their child's attendance. Systems for assessment do not focus sufficiently on identifying where pupils' progress is most rapid and where more needs to be done.

Leaders' checks on teaching lack precision in identifying how effectively teaching is accelerating pupils' progress..Governors have not ensured that current plans for the use of pupil premium funding clearly identify and address the issues which impede pupils' learning.

Teachers in some classes do not maximise learning opportunities in lessons so that all pupils, including the most able, achieve as well in all classes as they do in most. .
