What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children thrive in this exceptionally welcoming and very well-resourced environment. They show high levels of emotional well-being and a strong sense of belonging. They show how safe and secure they feel as they greet staff with smiles when they are collected from their individual classrooms.

Any necessary information that parents need to receive is passed on to staff. Children across all ages play together. This enables them to build friendships with a wide range of other children and extend their circle of friends.

Children are excited to develop their own ideas to extend games and activities. For example, younger childr...en engage older children and staff in a running game. They negotiate together who will be the person to try and catch the others.

Children giggle and clap their hands with delight as they twist themselves out of the way and are not caught. All children relish the opportunities they have for physical play outdoors and enthusiastically join in with organised games. Children pay close attention as staff explain the rules of the game.

For example, children across all ages join in with allocated teams as they follow instructions when playing a ball game.Children's behaviour is exemplary. They show very high levels of respect for each other and for staff.

Children demonstrate good manners as they automatically say 'please' and 'thank you'. Some children become so immersed in their play that they do not want to leave when parents arrive.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff are positive role models for children and understand how to support their emotional well-being.

They are exceptionally nurturing and support children to grow in confidence and develop high self-esteem. Children understand the simple club rules and adhere to these.The club has a buddy system in place to enable younger children to feel welcomed and comfortable in the club.

Older children are very proud to take on this role and take their responsibilities very seriously. For example, they ensure that younger children are totally involved in their play, that resources are shared fairly and that no child feels left out.The manager has high aspirations for children's well-being, which are reflected in the preparations for children entering the club.

She ensures that staff have a secure understanding of what they provide for children. The manager is inspirational and has an uncompromising ambition to continually improve, making excellent use of ongoing self-evaluation from staff and children.Staff encourage children to develop an awareness of risk.

They encourage children to risk assess the outdoor environment before using it. This enables children to think about their safety and the safety of others.Keeping children safe online is a key priority of the club.

If children need to use the internet at the club, this only allowed with supervision by a member of staff. The manager ensures that staff's knowledge of internet safety is up to date and that information is passed to parents through discussion and leaflets.Children's and staff's opinions of the club are taken into account and valued.

They regularly complete surveys to say what they like about the club. This includes ideas for activities and resources to enhance what the club already provides. This further develops children's sense of responsibility and their feelings of being a valued member of the club.

Staff support children's understanding of making healthy eating choices and promote opportunities for children to be independent. For example, children enjoy a freshly prepared light tea while at the club. They choose what they want to eat from a variety of options that include a good selection of fruit and vegetables.

Once they have finished their food, children independently tidy their plates away.Staff ensure that children learn about keeping themselves healthy when outdoors in the sunshine. For example, children know to use sun cream before going outside.

Children talk about needing to drink lots of water to keep their bodies hydrated and to stop them from feeling poorly.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff have a secure understanding of their responsibilities to protect children.

They know the procedures to follow if they have concerns about children's welfare, including protecting children from extremist views. The manager and staff ensure that the premises are secure at all times and any potential hazards to children's safety are identified and minimised. They use robust policies and regular training to strengthen all aspects of safeguarding practice.
