What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children thrive in this exceptionally warm and welcoming club. They are greeted by staff who listen intently as children talk about their day.

Children are immediately engaged in the wealth of activities available. They play harmoniously together and energy levels are high. Rooms within the club are filled with an abundance of laughter and conversation.

Children clearly enjoy the time they spend at the club. They are happy, engaged, motivated and fully immersed in their chosen activities. They quickly develop a strong sense of belonging and are actively involved in decision-making.

Children have excellent opportun...ities to provide feedback on what they enjoy at the club and what they would like to improve. Children behave exceptionally well and thoroughly enjoy making new friends as they play with children of different ages. Children comment that this is something they particularly like, as they are able to form new friendships with children who attend different schools.

Staff have high expectations of children. They offer very gentle, clear and consistent reminders about turn taking and sharing on the rare occasions it is needed. This helps children to understand what is expected of them and contributes to their very good behaviour.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children demonstrate an astute comprehension of their personal safety. They understand the need to wear high-visibility jackets and hold their friends' hands as they walk from school to the club. They demonstrate a strong awareness of road safety as they talk about safe places to cross, such as a zebra crossing.

Children thoroughly enjoy the activities available to them, particularly the opportunities to be creative. They confidently use scissors as they cut out pictures of different types of clothing. They discuss if these clothes are to be worn during winter or summer and use glue to stick the items of clothing onto corresponding sheets.

Children concentrate intently as they colour pictures. They work hard to complete their artwork and are praised by staff for their hard work and efforts.Children develop a strong sense of responsibility.

They help staff to look after the club's rabbits and fish, developing their understanding of how to care for living things. Children confidently handle the rabbits. They assist staff to feed them and enjoy cuddling them on their laps as they feed them carrots.

Staff and children play many games together. Staff carefully explain the rules of the game and older children often help those younger to understand. Turn taking, listening and patience are nurtured as children wait their turn and listen to instructions.

Staff are very playful in their interactions and children respond extremely well to their entertaining and engaging approach.Children learn about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. They follow good hygiene procedures, washing their hands before eating.

Children thoroughly enjoy the freshly cooked homemade meals, such as spaghetti bolognaise. Furthermore, children have plentiful opportunities to engage in energetic play and team games.Partnerships with the host schools are excellent.

Information shared between schools, parents and the club contributes to meeting children's needs successfully. Furthermore, staff carefully consider children's current learning at school, in order to provide activities that suit children's individual needs and interests exceptionally well.Staff are dedicated, enthusiastic and work extremely well together.

There is a real sense of teamwork as they decide and organise their roles and responsibilities. Staff deploy themselves well and ensure that they engage positively with children in the array of activities available. They talk to children about what they are doing, model language and skillfully ask questions.

The experienced and passionate manager works extremely closely with the staff team to ensure that practice and the activities provided are of a consistently high standard. Staff are continuously encouraged to reflect and are observed during sessions. The have regular, supportive meetings to discuss their practice and any additional training that may be required is swiftly identified.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff fully understand their role and responsibility in protecting children from harm. They carefully explain referral systems and how to report any concerns that they may have about the practice of a colleague.

Stringent recruitment and vetting procedures ensure that staff are suitable to carry out their roles and responsibilities and remain suitable for the duration of their employment. The staff regularly update their safeguarding knowledge and skills through training opportunities and team discussions. They maintain meticulous paperwork and complete risk assessments to ensure that the club is a safe and secure place for children to enjoy.
