What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are secure and settled. The out-of-school club provides a welcoming, family orientated environment. Children look forward to attending the club and greet practitioners with a hug as they collect them from school.

Children chatter happily with their friends as practitioners escort them safely to the setting. Children enjoy a wide variety of activities. They say that their favourite activities are board games and cooking.

Children help practitioners to make popcorn. They count down the seconds until it is ready. Children show care and consideration for their friends.

They sit down with their popcorn to watc...h a movie. Older children make sure the younger ones have a seat at the front, so that they can see the screen. Children who speak English as an additional language develop in confidence as they join in with games and make friends.

Children play calmly together. They cooperate well to play board games, make train tracks and build models. Children have opportunities to practise their physical skills as they participate in games, such as skipping and skittles.

Children's emotional well-being is supported as practitioners make time to talk with children about any issues which may have arisen at school. Children display a growing sense of responsibility. They tidy up after themselves at snack time and help to put away toys at the end of the session.

The provider makes good use of the large hall where the club is situated. Practitioners set out a variety of activities each day. These include art and crafts, table top activities and role play.

Children have ample space to enjoy vigorous physical play as well as quiet areas, where they can relax and read books.The partnership with parents is well established. Some families have older children who have attended the setting for many years.

Parents speak highly of the setting. They praise the relaxed and nurturing atmosphere. Practitioners and parents communicate regularly and parents feel well informed about children's activities.

The provider speaks passionately about the setting. She makes sure to keep up to date with current good practice and changes to regulations. This ensures the setting continues to meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage.
