Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • The manager is committed to developing the nursery continually and providing a caring and good-quality learning environment.

She gathers the views of staff, children and parents to help her in planning future improvements. • The environment is welcoming, bright and well resourced. Staff are friendly and caring.

They are sensitive to children's differing developmental needs. Children enjoy attending. They build positive relationships with staff and settle quickly.

• Staff support all children to develop good communication skills. For example, they introduce new words and bring excitement to stories as they read them. Older children are co...nfident to answer thought-provoking questions.

• Children gain good independence skills. Staff encourage children to take responsibility for everyday tasks, which children complete confidently and adeptly. This helps older children gain skills that prepare them well for their eventual move on to school.

• Parents report that they feel well informed about the progress their children make and that the setting supports them to help their children at home. • On occasions, staff do not ensure that shy, quietly spoken children are consistently and fully involved and engaged in activities. • Staff do not consistently use their knowledge of children's individual needs to plan precisely for their next steps in learning, to help them make more-rapid progress.
