What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive excitedly at this after-school club and independently chose a peg to hang their bags on. Children sit together for a snack and share their news for the week. Children share items they have from holidays and exciting events they are looking forward too.

Children listen to each other intently and clap their hands to praise their friends' achievements. Staff create a well-organised environment that children independently access. They incorporate the children's different interests and needs.

There is a quiet area for reading, a role-play area and a large creative area. Some of the children have shown an interes...t in making and creating. They work together to make creations of peacocks and eyes with the various materials provided.

They confidently discuss with friends what they are making and what they could add. Children are keen to share their creations with staff and the other children They praise each other and value other's thoughts and ideas.Staff support children's well-being.

They listen to children and value their opinions and ideas. The invite children to have a go when they suggest how to adapt an activity. Children excitedly push cars down a ramp they have created.

They ask supporting staff how they could make the cars go faster. Children are given time to think of ideas. Children get a box and put it under the ramp to make it 'faster'.

Children look to staff and beam with happiness when they succeed. Staff praise children's achievements. Children learn to become critical thinkers.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The leaders have worked hard to improve their knowledge and implement this since the last inspection. Staff carry out daily risk assessments of the school grounds to ensure the safety of children. They have also updated relevant polices and procedures.

Children are provided with a safe and secure environment to play and learn in.Staff create exciting activities for the children. Children in the garden ride on scooters.

Staff suggest they could do a time trial around the track they follow. Children eagerly engage and cheer each other on. Children then read the numbers from the stopwatch and determine whether they were faster or slower than their friends.

Children are happy and engaged in activities with friends and staff.The staff have an excellent relationship with the teachers at the host school. They communicate with them daily to ensure children are well supported at the club.

Staff receive information about children who may need more support on certain days, as their day at school has been different to usual. Children are very well supported and happy at the club.Children demonstrate good levels of independence.

They choose their own activities, meet their personal care needs and collect their own belongings at the end of the session. Children are encouraged to tidy up the toys when an activity is finished. However, staff do not always ensure children help to tidy up.

Children do not consistently learn the importance of keeping their play space tidy.Parents report on the 'excellent' and 'highly inclusive' care their children receive. They speak of the friendly staff and the good communication they receive from them.

They say their children love their time at the club and have flourished since attending.Staff support children to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Children all wash their hands as they arrive at the club and before snack times.

Nutritious snacks are provided that cater to all children's individual dietary needs. Children also have access to a large outside play area, where they can climb, run and play with balls. Children learn the importance of being healthy and active.

Children's behaviour is excellent. They are respectful of their friends and of the staff. Older children support their younger friends when they play together with the ball.

They introduce them to new ideas. All children are kind and caring towards each other. They build meaningful relationships.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported. Staff work closely with the host school, parents and outside agencies to ensure children have the best care. They ensure children have a positive experience while at the club.

Children are well supported, they enjoy play and learning.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.All staff provide a safe and secure environment for children to play and learn in.

They are aware of their role to help keep children safe. Staff can identify the signs and symptoms that may be indicators children are at risk. They are aware of the procedures to follow and the outside agencies they should report concerns to if required.

They understand this must be done in a timely manner. The leaders have implemented a robust recruitment procedure to help ensure all staff are suitable to work with children. They monitor ongoing staff suitability through regular supervisions and appraisals.
