What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children happily arrive at the club. Staff beneficially promote their involvement in club life.
Children show confidence and, at times, independently follow club routines. They responsibly put their belongings on pegs when they arrive. They tidy away the toys and conscientiously place their dirty dishes in the bowl after they have finished their snack.
Staff thoughtfully set out the areas in the hall. They ensure children have somewhere to relax and interesting activities and resources to explore. Children enjoy the social opportunities at the club, spending time with their friends at different activities and having lots o...f fun.
They build structures with blocks and magnetic pieces and enjoy imaginative play. They draw and colour pictures, do puzzles and play board games, cooperating well. Outside, children enjoy being physically active in the playground, playing ball games, challenging their skills on the equipment and playing hide and seek.
Children have good relationships with the staff at the club, enjoying their company in activities. They show confidence to speak with staff about things they want or need. Staff listen and thoughtfully ensure that they follow children's interests, such as joining children in playing their favourite game.
Staff thoughtfully check on children that are feeling a little unwell. They make sure children are comfortable and stay with them and meet their needs until their parents arrive to pick them up.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Staff work in partnership with parents, to ensure they get to know children's needs well and can support them consistently.
Parents are complimentary of the support and opportunities their children receive at the club. They appreciate the good communication from staff that keeps them well informed about all aspects.Children behave well.
They are polite and show respect for staff and the other children. They follow safety rules and boundaries, often independently. They get their high-visibility vest on when playing outside.
They respectfully listen to staff's reminders to ensure they follow safe practices, such as putting their shoes back on after playing in the den, so as not to slip on the wooden floor inside.Staff liaise closely with teachers at the school, gaining information to support children while at the club. Children are supported consistently.
Staff make sure that messages from teachers are acted on and their arrangements adjusted to meet children's changing needs. They then conscientiously ensure these are passed on to parents at home time.Staff support children's dietary requirements closely, making sure there are clear processes in place for this at mealtimes.
With the high number of children though, at times snack is a little chaotic, with children going backwards and forwards as staff remind them to wash their hands. Younger children take a little more time to move from the group circle time to the snack table. Some then struggle to find a place to sit and miss the chance to sit with friends.
They are distracted when the older children near them then finish and go off to play. However, leaders have already outlined plans for smaller group circle times to help manage the start of snack more efficiently and smoothly. The club has rapidly grown since it started.
The leadership team work closely with school leaders and the staff at the club, to continue to develop its facilities and practice. They evaluate their effectiveness and adapt the club very suitably, ensuring that they meet the needs of children, parents and the community. They work closely with their sister settings and support the different ages of children very well.
The leadership team work effectively together to lead the provision. They meet regularly with the staff as a team and individually, to support them in all aspects. Staff enjoy working at the club.
They complete mandatory and additional training to help their knowledge and practice.Staff are deployed suitably and communicate well, using walkie-talkies effectively to ensure they can monitor children across the different areas of the school. They work as an effective team, quickly meeting children's needs, such as when a child has a tumble on the playground.
Similar communication also aids smooth home time arrangements, with staff liaising well to get children ready from across the site.
