This provision meets requirements Children are happy and relaxed in this friendly club. They share trusting relationships with the staff who care for them.
Staff greet children warmly when they collect children from the host school. They listen and support children well. Staff show an interest in what children say and help them to manage their emotions, as they talk about their day.
This enables children to feel secure and settle quickly on arrival to the club. Children spend their time purposefully. They engage in a variety of activities which, capture their interests.
Staff take account of children's unique needs and interests and regularly ask ...them what they enjoy doing in the club. Children confidently speak about how they like playing football, crafts and drawing. Children quickly become engrossed in the activities on offer.
For example, they persevere as they build towers with small bricks and anticipate when these will fall. Staff interact well with children. They ask open questions and engage in their play.
Children are confident speakers and talk happily with visitors.Children have frequent opportunities to develop their creative skills. Some children attend the weekly art group and talk excitedly about the clay models they make.
Children enjoy drawing and proudly show their pictures. They concentrate and follow instructions to make monster figures. Children have regular opportunities to develop their physical skills, such as throwing and catching balls.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children develop a secure understanding of healthy lifestyles. They enjoy a selection of healthy snacks, such as fruit and vegetables, which they serve themselves. Staff encourage children to drink water regularly.
Children enjoy regular exercise, such as dance and team games. This helps children to develop their coordination. However, the setting does not always make the most of opportunities for children to enjoy fresh air.
Children follow hygiene routines and staff encourage them to take responsibility for their own personal care.Staff provide a secure, stimulating and inclusive environment, where they encourage children to join in. They help children to learn about online safety and regularly practise evacuation procedures, so they understand what to do in the event of an emergency.
This helps to develop children's understanding of how to keep safe.The club has recently opened. Staff are building relationships with parents and carers.
They find out about each child from the start. They provide parents with online information about what the club offers, and make the club's policies and procedures available for parents. Staff are currently exploring ways to enhance communication with parents, such as introducing newsletters.
Parents comment their children are happy to attend the club.The setting shares positive relationships with the host school. Staff communicate regularly at handover times and complement what children learn in school.
They find out about children's individual needs, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. There are individual care plans in place for children with any allergies or additional needs. This helps children to settle and ensures that their needs are met.
Staff share warm and respectful relationships with children. They speak politely and calmly to children. Children understand what is expected of them and behave well in the club.
