What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children are very settled and confident in their setting.
They have secure relationships with familiar staff that helps them to explore and experiment in their play. Children laugh with enthusiasm during their play. Staff engage well with the children, interacting with them effectively.
They give children ideas for different play and encourage children to extend this further. For example, children use the tyres to jump in and out of. They move the tyres by dragging them and then rolling them to the grass to extend their play.
Older children are positive role models for younger children. They share ideas and teach ...them new games. For example, older children teach younger children how to play noughts and crosses with chalk on the floor outside.
They explain carefully and slowly how to draw the grid and where they need to draw a nought or a cross. Younger children watch and listen carefully, gaining new skills from their older friends.Children play in a safe but fun environment.
They learn to keep themselves safe. They listen to reminders and explanations from staff. Children know right from wrong and are quick to remind others of the impact their actions have on other children's safety.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children show great resilience and persistence in completing activities to their own satisfaction. Staff encourage children to problem solve and work together as a team to work out how to complete a task. For example, children of all ages work together to move the foam mats, in a high tower, back to the shed.
The tower falls down numerous times. However, children talk through a plan and negotiate together to hold a corner each. They move at the same time to put them all away in one go.
Children's experiences are celebrated and shared with others. They feel unique and have a high level of self-worth. Staff have a good knowledge of children's interests and preferences in their play.
They use this well to provide challenging experiences for more confident children. Younger children, who are new to the setting, are reassured and receive one-to-one interaction. Staff use information gained from parents and children, when first registering, to provide familiar and favourite activities.
The staff team have a very positive attitude towards working cohesively. They provide a consistent approach to the care of the children. The know the children well and share information to ensure they receive continuous care.
Staff are eager to improve and listen to advice and implement new practices quickly. They actively evaluate the effectiveness of new practices by talking to children, observing their play and looking at the impact this has on children's social skills.Staff attend and complete regular training.
They develop their knowledge and share new practices to help enhance the children's experiences at the club. They successfully implement new ideas and practice to, support individual children's interests and needs.Children behave well together.
They learn to share with each other. They show compassion and care towards their younger friends. Staff adapt play to make sure all children are included.
Children notice their friends watching their play and invite them in to experience the fun that they are having.Staff promote children's physical well-being very well. They have access to plenty of outdoor space to run, climb, explore, throw, kick and roll.
They use the space well to extend their movements, using equipment to challenge their existing skills. Staff encourage all children to play outside to gain fresh air and to use energy from a day at school. Children help to plan weekly menus, providing their favourite meals and supporting their understanding of healthy eating.
Children have access to fresh drinking water at all times to help them stay hydrated.Parents make very positive comments about the continuous service available to the local community. Parents really appreciate the personalised provision for their school, especially during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
Parents have access to a full website of information and receive regular updates via email and verbal conversations with staff. They liaise well with the school to promote the ongoing care of the children.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
Staff have a clear knowledge of their responsibilities to protect children from harm. They continuously update their knowledge through training and discussions. Staff are highly aware of providing a safe and secure environment for children's play.
Robust procedures are in place to transport children from school to the setting. The manager ensures ratios are adhered to through a well deployed staff team who supervise the children effectively. The manager has clear ongoing suitability procedures in place to ensure staff are suitable to care for children.
