What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Children enter a stimulating environment and immerse themselves in an excellent variety of activities that excite, challenge and motivate them to learn. Staff use their knowledge of children's interests and abilities to plan activities that enhance their learning, building on what they already know. All children become confident individuals who make choices and develop independence.

Babies delight in feeling different textures with their feet and hands while staff tell their favourite story about a family looking for a bear. Staff use lots of repetition of words to encourage their developing language. Toddlers relish gat...hering vinegar in pipettes and squeezing it into baking powder and watching how it changes.

Staff encourage children to express what they see, and they use words such as 'fizz' and 'bubble' to explain what they see. Children develop a strong understanding of the wider world and diversity. They learn about their own uniqueness and the traditions and cultures of others.

Children are beginning to communicate with other children around the world who attend Bright Horizons nurseries. They have sent a pen pal pack to show the children where they play and live. Behaviour within the nursery is superb.

Children understand the importance of being respectful, kind and caring towards each other. Older children negotiate well as they play. They work harmoniously as they build and create different models and mix paints together, deciding what colours they will make.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children make exceptional progress. The extensive learning opportunities provided ensure children build excellent skills. Staff plan a curriculum that captures children's interest and enhances their learning.

Parents play an active role in their child's learning and share their interests and learning at home. Staff use this alongside their own observations to plan activities to enhance their all-round development.Teaching is superb.

Staff continually model the use of good language. They ask children questions to encourage their thought processes and allow them time to think about their answer before they respond. Children also learn to use simple sign language as a means of communication.

This provides excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The care that staff provide to support children with particular needs is a strength. Staff work cohesively with parents and other professionals to ensure care and learning opportunities are always targeted appropriately to support their progress.

Partnership with parents is superb. Parents speak highly of the wonderful care that staff provide and feel so pleased to have been given a placement at the nursery. They are delighted with the service and particularly like the involvement they have through workshops and the recent introduction of webinars to explore a variety of topics.

Parents' thoughts and opinions are actively sought. Self- evaluation of the nursery provision is a priority within the nursery to ensure that it continually develops and evolves and provides the best possible service.The well-being of staff is a high priority.

The manager values her team of highly qualified staff and places great importance on ensuring that they feel supported and that their opinions are important. Professional development opportunities enable staff to continually build on their knowledge and skills, which benefits the nursery immensely and helps to raise outcomes for children.Children learn to care for themselves and others.

They are selected each day to take on specific tasks. For example, they complete the garden checks to ensure that it is safe, and a water monitor ensures that there is fresh drinking water available for their friends. Children also take on the role of 'worry warrior'.

This involves being there for their friends if they are upset or worried about anything. Children take pride in this role and show real care and kindness to their friends.Children's awareness of healthy foods and lifestyles is supported superbly.

Children enjoy an excellent variety of foods. Robust procedures are in place to ensure that individual dietary needs and preferences are always known and met. Children learn about the importance of being active and enjoy activities such as yoga.

They choose when they wish to play outdoors and benefit from plenty of fresh air and exercise each day.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Children's safety and well-being are given high priority.

Security measures are robust and staff ensure that children are not released into the care of unknown adults. Staff demonstrate an excellent knowledge of their role and responsibility in protecting children from abuse and neglect. They are knowledgeable about who to speak to if they feel a child is at risk of harm, including if they think a child may be at risk of being exposed to extreme views.

Risk assessments are effective, and hazards minimised. Children learn about their own safety. They are encouraged to become involved with completing risk assessments of their environment.
