What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements The manager is very enthusiastic and committed to provide children with a most welcoming, home-from-home and exciting environment. Children are greeted from school by happy, attentive staff, who know the children well.
They are genuinely interested in the children's day at school and engage them in conversations. Several of the staff members work at the host school during the day, so are familiar adults for the children, who settle quickly. The staff ensure they have appropriate information regarding the children and their family and invest time in getting to know them before they attend.
All children are eager to investig...ate the opportunities provided. They are excited to see the staff and their friends, and quickly settle at their chosen activity. Even the very youngest children are confident and settled.
An effective key-person system supports the children that may require reassurance. Children make friendships and are kind and thoughtful to one another. Staff are good role models and children understand their high expectations.
There is a calm and homely atmosphere and children's behaviour is very good. Children's well-being is fully considered. For example, those that may want to sit quietly, or are tired after a busy day at school, have several quiet and very comfortable places to relax.
Children are encouraged to have a say in the activities provided and make choices. Staff respectfully listen to, and facilitate, their requests. Children play well together and there is a happy atmosphere throughout the session.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children demonstrate they are relaxed, feel safe and are confident. They are very polite and know the familiar routines. As they arrive, they say 'hello' and introduce themselves to visitors at the club.
They store their personal belongings and wash their hands before engaging in activities. Even the very youngest children are independent but seek help and reassurance when needed.The manager and her team place a strong focus on children's emotional well-being.
Children build secure, warm attachments with regular adults caring for them. They confidently engage visitors in conversation and invite them to join their games. They discuss what they enjoy doing at the club, such as cooking activities and playing outdoors.
The manager and her team have established positive working relationships with the host school. Communication is strong and discussions, if needed, take place with the teacher at the end of the school day when children are collected, to ensure appropriate information is shared and continuity of care.Children show sustained concentration at activities of their choice.
For example, they make friendship bracelets and persevere until they are complete. They receive lots of praise and encouragement for their efforts. A wide selection of craft materials are readily available.
Children choose to make kites and test them in the garden when they are complete. Work is celebrated and displayed within the club, which creates a real sense of belonging.Children are encouraged to make their own choices.
For example, they choose a snack they want from a range of healthy choices, and where they want to play. They sit chatting to their friends as they eat fruits or biscuits. They wash their hands without prompting and are encouraged to keep hydrated as they play in the large, outside space available to them.
Robust procedures are in place to ensure any children with allergies, dietary needs or medical requirements are managed well.Parents' comments are extremely positive about all aspects of the club. They say how much their children enjoy attending and ask to come to club.
They say they are completely reassured and confident that their children are safe while having fun. Many comment on the excellent communication and friendly and approachable team of staff.The manager is reflective.
She has a clear vision of the quality provision she expects for all children. She has high expectations for them and her staff team. Staff say they thoroughly enjoy their role.
They feel fully supported through supervision meetings and are positively encouraged to continue with their own professional development.Children's safety is paramount and daily risk assessments are completed. Staff are clear about their individual responsibility to protect children.
Completion of appropriate safeguarding training ensures they are fully up to date with current practice.
