What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children are comfortable and happy at this safe and welcoming club.
They arrive eager to tell the friendly staff team about their day as they are collected from school. Children build lovely friendships and excitedly greet one another. They have great fun together as they freely explore the well-resourced indoor and outdoor environments.
Children are well supervised by staff and enjoy choosing what they would like to play with. Children are consistently engaged during their time at the club. They access a wide range of activities that promote their interests and meet their individual needs, including children with special ...educational needs and/or disabilities.
Older children are extremely encouraging and supportive of younger children. They enthusiastically read stories together. Older children ask younger children simple questions about the plot to test their understanding and keep them motivated.
Strongly embedded routines support children's positive behaviour. Children willingly share resources and are kind towards one another. They are quick to reinforce the club's boundaries and expectations to their peers.
In turn, children fully understand what is expected of them. For example, they recognise that they must sit down while they eat their snack before returning to their play.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Leaders have a clear vision for the setting.
They want every child to be happy, feel safe and exceed their potential at the club. Staff are determined to provide the highest quality of care and education. Children truly benefit from the passion and commitment that the entire staff team shows.
Children comment that they 'really enjoy' attending the club. They explain that they 'love' the activities that staff plan for them. They discuss that they particularly enjoy running around in the outdoor environment, playing football with their peers.
Staff are positive role models. They are very respectful and caring towards children. Staff actively listen to children and provide them with the comfort and reassurance they need.
As a result, children feel supported and develop close relationships with staff.Children have regular opportunities for exercise and get plenty of fresh air. They are developing a positive view of an active lifestyle.
Children show great delight in spending time outside. They are confident as they ride bicycles and climb up and down the climbing frame independently. There are successful partnership working strategies in place.
Leaders and staff have developed strong bonds with parents. They routinely share information about the activities children enjoy and special events that are being celebrated. Parents comment that the 'fantastic' staff team gives '110%' in all it does.
Leaders and staff work harmoniously with teachers from the school to support all children, promoting their development and welfare to the highest level.Leaders are reflective in their ongoing evaluation of the club. They are aware of the club's strengths and areas to improve.
Staff comment that they feel well supported by leaders. They benefit from regular supervision meetings, ongoing support and training. Leaders have recently introduced peer-on-peer observations to help extend staff's skills and practice even further.
Staff teach children about different people and communities outside of their own experiences. This helps children to begin to recognise and celebrate their similarities and differences. During snack time, children talk about the different people who help us, such as the ambulance service.
Children have great fun as they dress up as emergency workers and make their own model emergency vehicles. They recognise that ambulances have loud sirens because they need to communicate that there is an emergency.Children show high levels of independence and enjoy doing things for themselves.
For example, children capably tie their own shoelaces. Children benefit from regular praise and encouragement from staff. This gives them a sense of pride in what they can achieve.
Staff are devoted to ensuring that every child is well prepared for modern life in Britain. Children engage in discussions and learn about democracy. They are encouraged to vote on whether they would like to play inside or outside.
This helps children to learn that their opinions, and the opinions of others, are valued and respected.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders and staff have a secure understanding of the possible signs that may indicate a child is at risk of harm.
They understand the procedures they must follow if safeguarding concerns arise. They attend regular training to keep their knowledge up to date. Staff are confident to report concerns about the conduct of a colleague in the event of an allegation against a member of staff.
They have a strong knowledge of other safeguarding issues, including the 'Prevent' duty, female genital mutilation and county lines. Vetting and recruitment processes are robust to ensure all adults working with children are suitable. Staff routinely check the indoor and outdoor environments to ensure they are safe and secure.
