This provision meets requirements Children enter the club enthusiastically, eager to see what is on offer. Staff set out a good selection of resources ready for when they arrive after a busy day at school.
Children respond to the caring, nurturing approach of all staff. They are happy and say that they feel safe attending the club. Staff interact well with children.
They help to support children's well-being and their sense of belonging.Staff know about children's interests, which helps them to plan and provide interesting activities. For example, they set out beads for children to explore and create with.
Children carefully use tweezers to place ...the beads into their preferred design, completely absorbed in what they are doing. Staff treat children with kindness and respect, which helps them to feel valued and welcome. They are mindful of children's needs and communicate with them effectively.
Children behave well and listen attentively to staff's instructions and requests. They respond positively to routines and boundaries, to keep themselves and others safe. Children have good social skills and have formed firm friendship groups.
They play cooperatively and take turns with popular resources.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The excellent working relationship with the host school is a key strength of the club. Staff talk to teachers regularly to exchange key information and to find out about children's time at school.
This helps staff understand about children's needs and to plan activities that complement their learning.Children often choose to spend their time outside, joining in enthusiastic games of football. They confidently clamber up the wooden ramp and slide down the pole with great agility.
The available outdoor space is well resourced and used to good effect. This provides children with plenty of physical exercise and opportunities for relaxation, which helps to boost their good health.Partnerships with parents are good and they say they are kept well informed about their child's experiences.
Parents comment that staff are very friendly and approachable and their child looks forward to their time at the club. Staff find out about children's needs and interests. They exchange information with parents about children's activities and their time spent at the club.
Children understand the importance of following good hygiene routines. They wash their hands before snack. Children enjoy a range of healthy foods, such as fruit, vegetables, and toast.
Staff encourage children to be independent, and they competently serve themselves, taking responsibility for clearing up afterwards.Children play in a safe environment and the staffing arrangements are effective.Staff work well together to supervise children closely as they move freely between indoors and outside.
