What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive happy and keen to start their day at this welcoming holiday camp.

They are greeted by staff, who are caring and responsive to children's needs. Staff sensitively interact with all children, particularly supporting those new to the holiday camp. As a result, new children feel comfortable and settle in quickly.

Children tell the inspector that they have fun at the holiday camp. Their favourite activities include making art and craft creations to take home, playing with their friends and taking part in team games. Children of all ages begin their day with a whole camp dance session.

Younger children c...arefully observe staff as they model the actions to the songs. They persevere and swiftly work out the actions to the choruses. Children demonstrate that they love to be physically active.

Children make friends with ease. They show respect towards each other and readily welcome others into their play. For example, they work collaboratively to make a structure from large shapes in the soft-play area.

They discuss if the next piece will still keep their model stable and celebrate when it does. Children display positive behaviour. They use their good manners without prompting, such as 'pardon' when they do not hear what someone is saying.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The experienced leaders show an excellent understanding of the provision's strengths and areas for improvement. They closely monitor staff's practice and offer focused feedback to help drive improvement further. Leaders provide a detailed and personalised induction process, which helps equip staff for their different roles.

Staff feel valued and love being part of a 'cohesive team'.Children's behaviour is very well managed by staff. There are effective procedures in place to ensure all children are aware of the rules and boundaries.

For instance, staff award children stars when they demonstrate good behaviour. They also choose children who staff name as 'hidden stars'. Children are left in suspense until the end of the day when the 'hidden star' is revealed and given a certificate.

This helps to encourage children to always show their best possible behaviour.Staff plan exciting activities for children, who show high levels of engagement, such as when they participate in parachute games. Children carefully listen to staff's instructions and follow each appropriately.

For example, they each hold a handle at the edge of the parachute and collectively move in one direction on a command. Children are given an opportunity to reflect on their experiences at the holiday camp at the end of the day. Staff consider these views and ideas for the next day's activities.

In this way, children develop a strong sense of belonging as their voices are given importance and acted on.Children have moments in the day to rest and relax. For instance, they listen and enjoy stories that are skilfully read by staff.

Children smile at different parts as staff use expression to add to the suspense. They show great familiarity with the events in the stories and join in with repeated phrases, such as in 'The Gruffalo' story.Children are provided with exciting real-life opportunities that they may not have yet experienced.

For example, the camp organised a visit of unusual animals for children to handle and learn about. Children talked about this event with the inspector, explaining how the gecko felt when they touched it.Staff promote children's independence exceptionally well, such as when children collect their own packed lunch and drinks at mealtimes.

Children demonstrate high levels of competence when taking care of their hygiene routines. For instance, they wash hands thoroughly with soap before mealtimes and after using a tissue to clean their noses. Children know that they are 'washing away the germs'.

This helps them to understand how to keep themselves healthy.Parents are extremely happy with the holiday camp. They are particularly impressed with the personalised feedback they receive when they collect their child at the end of the day.

Parents say that this shows how well the staff know their children. They use this helpful feedback to hold discussions with their children at home.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

Leaders organise training sessions before each camp to refresh staff's knowledge and understanding about safeguarding. This is effective and staff know safeguarding procedures to follow if they have concerns that a child is at risk of harm. They are confident in identifying potential signs of abuse, including risks associated with exposure to extremist views and behaviours.

Staff within the company are trained in safer recruitment procedures and follow the appropriate procedures. This includes robust checks to ensure that staff are suitable to work with children. Staff carry out daily risk assessments to help maintain a safe and secure learning environment for children.
