What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision does not meet requirements Staff do not fully implement the health procedures in place to keep children safe. Children's health care needs are compromised, particularly those with serious medical requirements. Staff are not following company procedures robustly enough by gathering the required information from parents about children's needs before they are admitted to the setting.
Staff are not fully aware of these needs or how to treat them. This means that should a child have a medical emergency at the setting, staff would not have the necessary information to attend to them. Children enjoy being together and playing in their group room and they be...have well.
However, some of the resources and activities on offer are not organised well enough and are limited, lacking sufficient challenge or stimulation for children. Children do not always receive support from staff to develop their enjoyment through well-thought-out activities and experiences, meaning that some children lose interest and wander around. During colder weather, there are reduced opportunities for children to play outdoors.
Staff do not give enough consideration on how to engage children in physical play indoors to fully support their large motor skills and balance as well as enjoyment and fun.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Staff do not follow procedures to ensure children's health needs are prioritised. They do not have clear instructions about what medication to administer, when it is needed and how it should be stored.
Information which has been shared by parents at registration is not communicated to staff.Some staff provide children with warm interactions, however, the quality by other staff is poor. Weak areas of staff engagement with children is not identified swiftly enough.
There is a lack of focused and consistent interactions for the youngest children at this setting.There is training and supervision for staff in order to support practice and monitor performance. However, the effectiveness on the implementation of this by some staff is not evident.
Staff remind children to blow their noses and encourage them to wash their hands and use the toilet independently. Children can freely access their water bottles with staff occasionally giving them gentle reminders.Children enjoy listening to the story of 'The Gruffalo'.
Staff help bring the book to life by reading with enthusiasm and getting into character; this helps children get drawn into the story further. Children show high levels of participation and active listening when they are purposefully engaged.Children behave well.
They listen to instructions and learn to follow the routines as staff provide them with guidance and expectations for behaviour. Staff provide appropriate reminders when needed to help guide children. Children enjoy spending time together.
There is an organised reception area where parents and children are greeted each morning and checked into the setting. There are arrangements in place for risk assessments to ensure the premises are safe and secure.Parents receive suitable information about the club.
They receive information prior to their children attending, which includes details about activities and what to provide in relation to these. Parents also have access to a website with information and guidance. Daily handovers between staff and parents ensure information about children is shared.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.There is not an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.
What does the setting need to do to improve?
