What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive with big smiles and are happy to see their friends and familiar adults. They know the arrival routines of going to their registration desk and then finding a place for their belongings.

Staff create a stimulating environment, with a focus on providing activities that consistently meet children's interests. This helps children who are new to the camp to settle quickly. The base room for the youngest children is a hive of activity.

Children enjoy role play, construction and sharing books with staff. They understand the routines of the day and tidy up with great enthusiasm when it is time to change activities.... Children are confident and sociable.

They ask visitors what their names are and chat about what they like to do at the camp. Children show high levels of respect for each other. They make sure their friends are clean after activities, such as baking.

This includes helping them to wipe their faces and t-shirts. Children have good manners and thank each other for their help. Staff bring all the children together at the start of the day and they discuss the day ahead together.

Children demonstrate they understand the rules and values of the camp. They show how they respect these through their consistently good behaviour.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The providers are very well organised and have highly effective procedures in place for the smooth running of this highly popular camp.

The staff team is well established and committed to keeping children safe. Daily meetings, held before children arrive, enable the providers to go through the day's activities and discuss children's individual needs with staff. This results in the camp operating extremely efficiently and children having fun in a safe environment.

Children enjoy the opportunity to take part in creative arts. They learn how to use their bodies through dance and movement and look forward to the weekly performance for their parents. Staff use games to help children to warm up their voices for singing.

They explain the importance of strengthening the muscles in their throats as well as bigger muscles in their bodies.Parents speak extremely positively about the camp. They say information sharing from registering their children through to daily feedback is excellent.

Parents say their children enjoy the activities staff provide and are very keen to return. They state their children are safe and that the staff care for them well.Staff sensitively help children to keep learning through the summer.

For example, they ask them to work out how many steps they have taken in their dance, by adding back-and-forth steps together. Staff encourage children to write their names on their pictures and bags to hold their baking. The tuck shop is a firm favourite with the children.

They enjoy having their own money to spend. Staff and older children help the youngest children to understand value and cost. They count out change to children to support children's developing understanding of money.

Staff turnover is very low, despite this, the providers have robust recruitment procedures in place. They make sure all staff are suitable to work with children and have the right skills to complement the team. Staff have access to a wealth of online training opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills.

The providers regularly observe staff to monitor their practice and find ways to enhance their ongoing development. Staff report they are very well supported and they thoroughly enjoy their work at the camp.The providers work closely with the host school on health and safety.

Staff know who is expected on site when the camp is in operation. Robust risk assessments are undertaken to ensure the premises, both inside and outside, are safe and secure. Staff are aware of their roles and deploy themselves effectively.

This helps to make sure all children are supported and supervised at all times.
