This provision meets requirements Children happily chat and laugh with each other and staff as they arrive at this friendly and well-organised club.
Staff use their knowledge of the children, along with children's suggestions, to plan interesting and stimulating activities, using the main room and outside spaces very effectively. Children are inspired to explore imaginatively. They are excited to use craft materials, creating items, such as butterflies and dragonflies.
They use books to help them plan how to represent their chosen insect. Staff skilfully support the children. They explore and create alongside them, offering ideas and techniques, and encour...aging children to think and solve problems.
Children smile proudly at their creations and eagerly take them home to show their parents.Children are exceptionally well involved in club life. Their views are valued, and the managers are constantly introducing new ways for children's ideas to be heard and used effectively.
Children appreciate their termly involvement in the new student council. They have fun at fundraising events, such as a movie night. They develop a strong sense of belonging to the club and enjoy earning house points for their team.
All this very beneficial involvement significantly contributes to the very happy, calm atmosphere at the club. Children have great respect for the staff team. They behave extremely well.
They are polite and follow the club's rules and routines readily. Children of all ages play well together.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The manager is passionate about providing high-quality care for children.
He works hard to evaluate all aspects of the club, working collaboratively with all those involved. The manager, deputy manager and the staff team continually make positive changes to enhance the support for children's individual needs and daily experiences.Staff have beneficial partnerships with parents and the school, to ensure children are consistently supported.
Parents are very positive about the club. They say that staff have built wonderful relationships with the children. They compliment the manager on his level of organisation and appreciate all the new ideas and events he has instigated since taking over.
Staff work as an effective team and communicate well. They deploy themselves to ensure excellent supervision of the children. They consistently check the numbers of children as they move between environments.
Staff use walkie-talkies to keep in contact with each other across the site, this helps them ensure they can collaborate and quickly meet children's needs. They follow robust security procedures at pick up and throughout their sessions, to keep children safe.Children are active and well engaged.
They test their skills on the playground equipment and enjoy sports, such as cricket. Children learn about nature as they search for bugs and identify them using information sheets. They find toy bugs hidden in the sand and then build sand mountains for them.
Staff carefully consider the set-up of the outdoor areas and have plans to develop these further, with lighting so children can explore outside more readily in the darker winter months.Staff show genuine care and respect for children. They sensitively join children in their play, thoughtfully noticing if a child is at an activity alone.
They quickly notice if children are not feeling themselves. They are very caring and patiently and attentively support children.The committee, managers and staff understand their responsibilities to safeguard children.
Staff are aware of procedures to follow, should they have concerns about a child. The managers undertake higher level safeguarding training to ensure they can lead staff practice as well as deal with any concerns appropriately.The committee support the managers in the leadership of the club.
They focus on the staff's professional development closely. Staff refresh their food safety, first aid and child protection training regularly. They are encouraged to undertake any additional training they may wish to.
Some are completing relevant child related qualifications to further their knowledge and the work they do at the club.
