What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive happily into the after-school provision and behave well. They demonstrate their understanding of the routine as they hang their coats and bags up, self-register using their name cards and get involved in their chosen play. The staff have high expectations of children's behaviour and role model this well by setting clear rules and boundaries and providing a safe environment for all children.

Children are confident in the provision. They are able to access their chosen play resources independently. For instance, some children take part in art activities while others play table-top football.

Children demonstra...te kindness as they explain that if they are not sure where a toy is kept they can ask one of their friends who will help them. Children have access to a large outdoor area where they take part in running games, climbing and football. This helps to provide them with good opportunities to have fresh air and be physically active.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The provider shows passion and dedication in offering children an enjoyable place to be before and after school. She works with the children, staff team and parents to reflect on the environment and activities provided. The information gained is then used to enhance the provision further, which promotes children's self-esteem as their voices are listened to and action is taken.

For example, the provider and staff team have adapted the environment to create more space for children's chosen games. This has created a calmer environment for children. The provider works closely with the attached school to ensure information about individual children is shared.
