The provision meets requirements The manager demonstrates a good understanding of how to manage the club. She ensures that staff are clear about their roles and responsibilities. She has systems in place to monitor staff's performance and to help them improve their practice.

Staff understand the need to build positive relationships with parents and with teaching staff at the local school. Staff know the importance of working together to promote continuity of care and to ensure children's individual needs are met. The staff have a good understanding of the safeguarding and welfare requirements.

They recognise the signs that would alert them to concerns for a child's welfa...re. They know the procedures to follow to keep children safe from harm. The staff and manager make appropriate arrangements that help keep children safe.

They know how to use comprehensive risk assessments to identify and minimise hazards. The staff understand how to promote children's emotional well-being. They offer gradual settling-in visits and encourage positive behaviour through praise and encouragement.

They know how to provide children with the choice of a range of interesting activities. The manager recognises the importance of staff attending regular training to keep their knowledge up to date. They have completed the required paediatric first-aid and safeguarding training.

Since the last inspection, the manager has reviewed the opportunities provided for children to play and engage in activities outdoors. There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation.

Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration. Inspection activities The inspector checked evidence of staff's suitability and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures to safeguard children's welfare.

The inspector toured the premises with the manager. The inspector looked at and discussed a range of records, policies and procedures with the manager. The inspector discussed safeguarding procedures, including how the staff intend to keep children safe.
