However, they do not encourage older, most-able children to extend their vocabulary by introducing new or alternative words during teaching and learning. • Young babies enjoy plenty of opportunities to develop physical skills. Nevertheless, staff working with babies do not have a shared understanding of the individual support necessary to promote their growing independence.
