What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are excited as they arrive and are enthusiastic about attending the club. The friendly staff welcome them warmly, smiling and greeting them individually. Children show that they feel happy and secure as they meet familiar staff and friends.

Staff gather children together each morning to talk about the routines of the day and include them in making choices about activities. They remind children about the rules of the club and the importance of working together. Children listen carefully and gain a sense of belonging as they look forward to the exciting activities that await them.

Children relish playing outdoors an...d take part in team sports, such as football. Staff are skilled in teaching children of different ages how to cooperate to play a game together. Older children have the chance to develop their skills and encourage younger children to practise kicking the ball towards the goal.

Children of all abilities receive praise from the staff and celebrate each other's achievements enthusiastically. Staff are excellent role models and treat children with respect and kindness. They demonstrate sharing and turn taking and, as a result, children are polite, caring and follow the rules of the club.

This contributes to the overall happy, calm and caring atmosphere.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The manager and staff provide a wide range of experiences for children at the club. They work hard to evaluate all aspects of the provision, gaining the views of staff, parents and the children.

For example, they have recently adapted and improved a reward system for the children following suggestions from parents.The manager forms highly effective relationships with the host school. This helps staff to understand children's individual needs and support their health and well being.

They pass on relevant messages to parents, which means that children get consistency and continuity in their care.The owner places a high priority on staff development. He works with staff and provides training to help them to improve their skills.

This ensures the continuous delivery of high-quality care and improves outcomes for children attending. Staff comment that they enjoy working at the club and feel respected and valued. They work together as a committed team and benefit from the mutual support of their colleagues.

Staff encourage children to understand the world they live in and to be creative.Children talk excitedly with staff about an England football match and quickly become absorbed in making flags representing the England football team, for example. Children concentrate well as staff praise their efforts and beam with pride as they wave their flags.

Staff are skilled communicators and encourage conversation as children enjoy activities. They value what children have to say and this helps children to express their thoughts and ideas freely.The manager and staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well.

There is an inclusive atmosphere and staff demonstrate a good knowledge of all children's individual needs. Staff are responsive and sensitive to children's emotions. They provide quiet spaces when children need to relax and rest.

Children have a strong understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe. They look out for each other during physical games and activities. Children are conscientious about helping to set up equipment safely and tidying away.

They develop their independence and gain a sense of responsibility. Children demonstrate their understanding of healthy lifestyles. They know they need to wash their hands before eating and do this without prompting.

The partnership with parents is strong and there is a continuous two-way flow of information. Parents say that staff are very approachable and always there to discuss what children have enjoyed each day. This helps to support children's care and well-being.

Parents comment on how happy their children are to attend the club and say that they benefit enormously from the many activities on offer.
