This provision meets requirements Staff warmly welcome children as they collect them from their school classroom. Staff ensure children understand the rules for returning to the club in a safe and well-organised manner. Staff create an exciting and stimulating environment based on the ages and interests of the children who attend.
Children demonstrate that they are excited and full of enthusiasm on arrival at the club. They quickly become absorbed in play. Staff offer good support to less confident children and those new to the club, which helps them to feel safe and secure.
There is an effective key-person system in place, which offers a link between chil...dren, schoolteachers, and parents.Children behave well. They demonstrate good manners and are kind and supportive to staff and their friends.
For example, children ask their peers and newer children if they are okay and offer them a reassuring 'high five'. Staff adopt exciting strategies that encourage children to follow the rules and promotes positive behaviour. For instance, children receive stickers for completing tasks.
When children achieve 10 stickers, they are excited to choose something from the shiny box. Staff have also adopted the same club rules that children follow in school. This means children are clear about staff expectations and can manage their own behaviour.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children are very confident and engage exceptionally well with staff, visitors, and one another. They chat enthusiastically to visitors, discussing their favourite activities and encouraging them to join in their play, for example, in the home corner. Staff support children's self-esteem well.
They offer lots of praise for children's efforts during activities and value their achievements by displaying arts and crafts on a 'wow' wall.Daily routines for before and after school and holiday care are flexible and adapted to meet the needs of children attending. There are two dedicated playrooms for children to experience activities and opportunities suitable for their own age group.
Staff talk to children about the activities on offer and the themes they link to. Children have good opportunities to add their own ideas to future planning. This means children feel important and valued, which helps them to become fully involved in all aspects of the club and activities available.
Parents are highly complimentary about the dedicated staff and the nurturing care they provide. They comment on how children look forward to attending the club and thoroughly enjoy the wide range of activities available. Parents appreciate the information they receive through the online application, which keeps them up to date about their child's time in the club.
Staff work well as a team. They communicate with each other throughout the session, keeping each other up to date with any changes to children's needs or routines. Staff are deployed well, which helps to ensure children are always closely supervised and kept safe.
