They ensure that the toys, games and activities are based around the things that children enjoy. Therefore, children are excited to discover what is on offer each day. They are motivated by activities, such as sports, crafts and role play, and become highly engaged.
Staff are nurturing and attentive to children and quickly recognise when they may need help to join in. They are committed to providing an inclusive service and work together to ensure that all children make friends and feel valued. Children settle in quickly and show that they feel happy and secure at the ...club.
Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour. They ensure that they are clear about the rules in place, to help keep them safe at the club. For example, children understand why they must wear high-visibility jackets on the walk from school to the club.
They follow the club's routines and behave well. Staff provide a range of fun activities, which complement children's learning at school. For example, staff plan a jewellery making activity, where children thread beads and use scissors.
They know that this will help to support children's writing skills, by strengthening their fingers and hands.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The provider has good oversight of the club, to help to maintain the high quality of the provision. Staff are valued and receive effective support, supervision and training, so that they understand and fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
Staff say there is a happy working environment and a good sense of teamwork. They describe the satisfaction they feel at making a positive difference to children's lives.Staff gather information on children before they join the club.
This gives them a good understanding of each child's needs, such as if they have an allergy or require medication. Staff work with parents to adapt the provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. All children receive the support they need to join in and feel safe.
Children say that they love coming to the club and eagerly list their favourite activities, such as playing football and card games with their friends. Children say that the staff are kind and friendly. They appreciate that staff help them with their homework after school, so that they can relax and enjoy time with their parents when they get home.
Staff support children's creative development well. For example, they ensure that there are a range of materials that children can design and create with. Children skilfully shape and join paper to make their own handbags and decorate them with colourful and imaginative designs.
They are proud of their achievements and enjoy sharing them with staff and their peers.Children demonstrate good levels of independence. They manage their personal hygiene, take care of their belongings and choose their activities.
However, staff do not always consider how they can further extend children's independence skills, particularly at mealtimes.Staff support children to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. They provide nutritious meals, which cater to children's individual dietary needs.
Children have access to a large outside play area, where they can climb, run and play with balls. Staff initiate lively discussions with children, to help them to learn the importance of being healthy and active.Staff are positive role models.
They teach children to be kind and interact respectfully with others. Children learn important social skills. They develop good friendships with children of different ages and play together harmoniously.
For instance, older children support their younger peers to take turns as they play board games together.Parents value the service provided and speak highly of the club's staff.
