What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children look forward to coming to the club. The staff organise children into two groups, one for children who are under five years old and one for those who are older.

During the day, there are opportunities for siblings to spend time with each other and for younger children to mix with the older ones. For example, during mealtimes and movie time at the end of the day. The activities are planned according to the age of the children in each group.

There are free play opportunities throughout the day for both groups and more focused activities, which the children can book before they arrive. For example, the older children ...use a variety of beads and bands to make necklaces, bracelets and hair braids, while the younger children have fun building towers from bricks and painting pictures of dinosaurs. The staff who care for the younger children are experienced and nurturing, creating a safe and welcoming environment.

New children are particularly well supported. They are encouraged to join in and become familiar with the daily routine. Staff working with older children enthusiastically join in their games, for example during the hockey match.

All children demonstrate good manners, they are encouraged to share and take turns with their friends. Staff reward children for their good behaviour and to promote their confidence. For instance, they present them with certificates for showing off their hockey skills.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
