What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children are extremely happy and confident, and they thoroughly enjoy their time at this provision.
The enthusiastic and committed staff work exceptionally well together to provide a welcoming and enjoyable environment. Children have opportunities to be in involved in a variety of interesting, exciting and challenging activities. For example, they are eager to play on a very large inflatable slide and assault course.
They show lots of imagination and delight as they try out different ways to slide down. Children greatly enjoy cooking. They work well together to follow the recipe and are pleased with the snacks they make....r/> Children keenly participate in creative activities. They enjoy cutting, sticking and drawing additional features to make their creations unique. Staff praise all children's achievements.
Children's behaviour is exemplary. They are kind and show high levels of respect to each other. There are very strong bonds between staff and children.
They cheerfully talk together and share jokes. Staff are highly attentive to ensure that all children are happy and safe. They provide sensitive encouragement to help younger and less confident children to settle and to take part in their chosen activity.
Staff receive excellent support from their manager and leaders to ensure they can provide high-quality care for all children.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
There is a very strong team ethos shared by all staff members. They are highly dedicated to planning a school holiday programme that will appeal to all children.
Staff ensure that children have a choice of varied activities every day to meet their differing needs and wishes.Children have plenty of opportunities to be physically active either in the large hall inside or within the extensive school grounds. They can choose from a wide range of equipment such as balls, bats, skipping ropes and tub stilts.
Staff enthusiastically join in with the children's games. Additionally, in the summer, children enjoy use of the school's swimming pool.Children listen exceptionally well to instructions and guidance from the staff team.
As a result, children's involvement in team games is successful and enjoyed by all. For example, children enthusiastically take part in a scavenger hunt. They search for the clues hidden within the school grounds and successfully decode the message.
Leaders organise weekly trips to a variety of local places of interest. For example, children visit theme parks, an aquarium or a zoo. As a result, children can happily share the outing with their friends and have opportunities that they might not otherwise experience.
Leaders highly value the experienced and committed staff team. They provide regular opportunities for staff to reflect on practice and to share their views about potential developments. There are many opportunities for staff to extend and enhance their professional knowledge and skills.
As a result, there is a shared passion for continual improvement.Partnerships with parents are excellent. Leaders seek their views and use this information to shape further programmes.
They provide detailed and very useful information online and on site to ensure that parents are well informed about policies and procedures. Staff know the children and their families exceptionally well. Parents speak very highly of the club and they describe staff as 'friendly, knowledgeable and helpful'.
Staff are excellent role models. They show care and consideration to children's safety and well-being. Staff regularly ask children for feedback to gain views on their assessment of an activity.
Staff listen attentively and show they value children's opinions. Children are very complimentary about the staff and the club. They like coming and talk about 'being able to express myself and to be me'.
Children show they feel very welcomed and secure at the club.Children form positive friendship groups. They learn new skills from each other and confidently share these with staff and other children.
For example, children teach each other how to make decorative jewellery from small colourful elastic bands. Children are proud of their achievements and show staff how to make more. Staff support children's emotional well-being superbly, helping them to develop into strong and secure individuals.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff receive regular training to keep their knowledge refreshed. They have an excellent understanding of all aspects of child protection and their responsibilities to report any concerns about a child's well-being.
They are alert to possible signs and symptoms that indicate a child may be at risk of abuse or neglect, or of being influenced by extreme behaviours or ideas. Staff help children to understand how to keep themselves safe, for example in the event of an emergency evacuation. Staff supervise children at all times.
Leaders ensure that a high percentage of staff are first-aid trained. There are robust risk assessments in place. Staff complete daily checks to ensure that the environment and resources are safe and suitable for the children.
