What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Staff have created a welcoming and inclusive environment for children. They greet children with friendly smiles and work quickly to get to know them, especially those that are new to the club. Children settle in well and quickly become involved in an array of activities of their choosing.

The staff sit with the children and share their enthusiasm as they play games and engage in positive back-and-forth interactions. This helps the children to feel safe and secure, and they develop a sense of belonging. Staff encourage all children to participate in a welcome meeting to discuss the events and activities on offer throughout the day.<...br/>
They talk to children about behavioural expectations, safety rules and boundaries. Children are polite as they sit and listen to what staff tell them. They are keen to offer their views by placing their hands in the air to respond to questions asked of them.

This creates a respectful culture where children feel valued and listened to. Children enjoy well-thought-out activities indoors and outside in the fresh air. For instance, children that prefer to stay inside enjoy crafts where they can make their individual Christmas cards or decorations.

The children that choose to engage in activities outside have fun as they play archery and flying disc target games. The staff clearly explain the rules of the games, and children excitedly take their turns and cheer on their friends.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

There are effective systems in place to ensure that all staff receive thorough inductions that help them to understand their responsibilities.

Staff that are new to the club receive tailored support and guidance by leaders and other long-standing staff. This helps them to develop their self-confidence and understanding of the expectations of their roles. Additionally, staff are provided with key training that helps them to increase their skills and build on what they know.

This benefits the children's emotional well-being.The staff are good role models and communicate with children in a friendly, caring and respectful manner. They ensure that the youngest children receive extra support during games, activities and social interactions.

Children of all ages display high levels of engagement as they participate in conversations. For example, the younger children discuss what they are building as they play with small construction toys. They offer advice and praise to each other's work as they talk about aspects of their creations.

The positive interactions help children to build meaningful relationships.Children follow good hygiene routines. For instance, they wash their hands before participating in a cooking activity, before meals and after using the toilet.

This is regularly reinforced by staff. Additionally, staff promote healthy eating as they talk to children about fuelling their bodies with healthy food and drinking plenty of water. Staff supervise children well at mealtimes.

Children enjoy this social time and develop good habits to keep themselves well.Staff help all children to recognise risks and understand ways in which they can keep themselves safe. For instance, when all the children have arrived at the club, they practise the fire evacuation procedure.

When outside in the designated area, staff praise the children for their prompt action in leaving the building as safely and swiftly as possible. Children have a sense of achievement and accomplishment.Parent partnership is effective.

Leaders and staff seek information about children's interests and care needs prior to children attending. This helps staff tailor activities and the environment to suit the individual needs of all children. Staff share details with parents about their child's time at the club, such as what they have eaten and activities they have experienced.

Parents express that their children come home happy and full of excitement to share what they have enjoyed doing while at the club.
