Staff support children to feel secure and to keep themselves safe, as they recall and reinforce the club's expectations. Furthermore, staff work hard to ensure the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Staff get to know the children well and consider their interests when planning activities.
Children also have opportunities to suggest activities they would like to see in the club. This supports children in ...gaining a sense of belonging. Children behave well, are helpful and treat each other with respect.
They also show polite manners and kindness to each other.Children enjoy a range of opportunities to be active. Staff ensure that children benefit from many physical activities and that they can access the outdoor area daily.
Children enjoy learning new games as well as making choices about which sport they would like to play. For example, children excitedly stand in a circle and are eager to join in a game, as staff teach them how to play 'elephant football'. This promotes children's ability to improve their fitness, balance, coordination and control.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children happily enter and begin playing with a range of activities provided on their arrival. Overall, staff communicate with children well and support them to form friendships and develop social skills. For example, children participate in creative and imaginative activities, such as construction using connecting straws or decorating butterfly templates.
Children talk confidently and show good levels of concentration as they work with others towards a common goal.The key-person arrangements are effective. All early years children are allocated a specific adult.
This key person liaises with the link school and parents to help support children. Staff communicate effectively with parents about the child's session and general well-being.Staff are great role models.
They create an inclusive environment, support children's interests and preferences and ensure everyone is treated fairly. Children gain a good understanding of the boundaries and follow clear instructions. They share, take turns and display positive attitudes towards staff and their friends.
Overall, when there is plenty of choice of activities, children of various ages play happily and demonstrate good levels of engagement and focus. At times, staff are eager for children to tidy up the games or activities before they have finished. Nonetheless, staff interact positively with children and involve themselves in the games and craft activities.
Staff support children well to develop the skills they need for the future, such as independence. For example, children make many choices and are encouraged to do as much as possible for themselves. For instance, children confidently choose, prepare and serve their own snack.
They spread their own choices of toppings onto their crackers and add a range of fillings to their wraps.Leaders ensure there are enough staff employed to keep children safe. Staff vigilantly supervise children at all times, particularly when children are eating.
Staff help children to gain a good understanding of personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle choices. Children know to wash their hands before eating. They enjoy a range of healthy and nutritious snacks.
Parents speak positively of the club. They value the regular communication provided and the enthusiasm of the staff team, they state that their children really enjoy attending.Leaders are effective in supporting staff and promoting development opportunities.
Staff report that they enjoy working at the club and they feel well supported, valued and part of the team. Staff share ideas for activities, and take on responsibilities, such as leading the activities themselves. Staff complete an induction that outlines all policies and procedures and have opportunities to complete mandatory training.
