What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are happy and enjoy the time they spend at the club.

New children settle quickly, with good support offered by staff to help them get to know other children attending. Children are keen to join in with activities and take pride in their achievements. For instance, they share pictures and road tracks they have created to staff.

Children have formed good friendships and together they show delight in playing team games together. For example, they cheer each other on as they play rally games requiring the use of ribbons and cones. Children behave well and clearly respect each other.

For instance, they take tu...rns and congratulate their friends for achievements. Such as, making a paper aeroplane that flies successfully across the room.Children enjoy a good range of activities that support their interests and provide them with learning opportunities that let them learn new skills.

For instance, children excitedly learn how colours are made as they are involved in a science experiment, which involves colour mixing with use of food colouring, water and tissue. Children demonstrate that they feel safe in the club and show that they have good relationships with staff and their key workers. For example, they explore the environment with confidence and enjoy playing games with staff.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff provide a welcoming environment for the children. They support children's personal, social and emotional development as they greet parents and children at the gate to welcome them in.

Children then enter the club confidently and settle to routines and activities with ease.Staff communicate well with the children and provide good opportunities to increase the children's communication and language skills. For example, during group times staff ask children a range of questions and include them well in conversations.

Staff help children to learn about the expected behaviours for the club well. They remind children of the rules of the club at the start of the day, to help them understand and maintain these guidelines throughout the session. This supports their understanding of expected behaviour.

Staff are good role models for the children. They offer consistent praise to the children and gentle reminders, where needed, to help keep children safe and happy.Staff provide children with a good range of creative materials, which helps them to experiment and learn new skills.

For example, children have fun exploring with different forms of crafts, role-play materials and construction resources, which are easily accessible and chosen by children.Children have daily opportunities to be physically active and play in the fresh air. This has a positive impact on children's good health.

Staff talk to children about the importance of keeping hydrated. However, they do not always maintain healthy practices. For example, children eat snacks while sat on the floor and occasionally foods that have been dropped onto the floor.

This poses a potential risk to the children's health.Partnerships with parents are positive. Leaders ensure they share a good amount of information about the club activities and daily programmes to help parents know and understand what their children have been doing.

Parents comment positively about the staff and club activities. However, there is less focus on developing partnerships with other settings where children attend, to help enhance continuity in their care and learning.The leadership team offer good ongoing support to the staff and the staff comment that they feel very well supported.

Staff benefit from regular supervision meetings, coaching and mentoring and they have good access to training to help advance their professional development. Leaders and staff work very well together to create a welcoming environment and fun-filled activity programme for the children to enjoy.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

All staff have a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities to safeguard children. They know the signs and symptoms that may indicate that a child is at risk of harm. Furthermore, they understand the procedures to follow if they have concerns about a child.

The premises are clean, secure and well maintained. The leadership team ensure that all staff undertake regular safeguarding training, which includes developing staff understanding of wider safeguarding concepts. Secure recruitment processes are in place to ensure all staff are suitable to be employed to work with children.
