What is it like to attend this early years setting?
The provision is good
Children thrive in this lively and exciting environment. They develop firm friendships and eagerly involve each other in their play. All children build strong attachments with staff, who comfort and reassure children as they become familiar with visitors, such as when the inspector is in the nursery.
Babies and young children relish exploring, both indoors and outdoors. Those not yet walking safely use low-level furniture to pull themselves up to standing and move around the room. They also seek the hands of staff to help build their confidence as they take their early steps.
Children eagerly join in with songs and sho...w great delight as they join in with the actions. Their senses are heightened through a vast range of activities. Babies feel sand as it slips through their fingers and use spoons and containers to scoop it up.
They explore how different-sized beads feel on their hands as they run their fingers over beaded mats. Older children use torches to make and explore shadows and recognise when the sun makes their shadow on the pavement. Toddlers mix different materials together, such as paint, flour and dough.
They make marks with their fingers and various tools and talk about the different textures they can feel.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The provider has failed to ensure the information held by Ofsted about those associated with the setting and their roles is up to date. The nominated person and another known association are no longer directors of the organisation.
This means that the only remaining director is not known to Ofsted. However, internal suitability checks have been carried out, so this person does hold a full Disclosure and Barring Service check. Furthermore, the provider was proactive in tackling this issue, and an application was submitted on the day of the inspection to address these inaccuracies.
Therefore, the impact on children is negligible.Staff's commitment to ensuring children have the best possible care and support is infectious. They strive to gain as much information about children's needs and use this to tailor care accordingly.
This includes undertaking specialised training in order to do so effectively. Staff work in partnership with other agencies to enhance learning opportunities for all children and ensure they have the opportunities to make the best possible progress.Children behave extremely well.
They show kindness and support to their peers. Staff support them to understand the importance of sharing and taking turns through play and how to manage their feelings.Parents speak extremely positively about the nursery, the staff and the excellent care and learning opportunities provided.
They particularly like the lines of communication between nursery and home. Parents can access information about their child's day through an online application, and staff also use this to share ideas for continuing their child's learning at home.Children's imagination blossoms.
They create their own boats using large boxes and a mast with a flag using large sticks, sticky tape and tissue paper. Children hold their hands to their eyes to make pretend binoculars and shout, 'land ahoy', as they pretend to sail the sea.Children learn how things float and sink and whether things are heavy or light, such as stones or shells.
They learn that boats made of cardboard soak up all of the water and sink because they become waterlogged, but those made out of plastic float unless filled with water. Staff pose questions to encourage children to recognise what is happening and why.Children's health and well-being are promoted well.
Children spend lots of time outdoors being physically active. They climb, dig and ride wheeled toys, building control and coordination from an early age. Children work cohesively with their friends to keep a ball on a parachute and make sure that the edges of the parachute stay high to stop it rolling off.
Freshly prepared, hot nutritious meals support children's well-being even further. Individual dietary needs are catered for, and children thoroughly enjoy the food provided. Staff follow meticulous routines to make sure that children rest and sleep according to their needs.
Direct supervision from staff and regular checks while children sleep ensure that they remain safe.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Children remain safe because staff take highly effective steps to ensure that the nursery environment is safe, secure and well maintained.
Daily risk assessments mean that staff swiftly identify and minimise potential hazards. Robust recruitment and selection procedures ensures that anyone working with children is safe and suitable. Staff's knowledge of the signs that may indicate a child is at risk of harm and abuse is excellent.
They fully understand the procedures to follow if they are concerned about a child or have a concern about the practice of a colleague. Professional development opportunities are sharply focused through effective monitoring processes by managers.
What does the setting need to do to improve?
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: nenhance oversight of the governance of the setting and their roles with regards to associations to keep Ofsted fully updated.
