This provision is good • Children's behaviour is well managed. Staff are positive role models and know each child well.

They give clear explanations to support children's understanding of acceptable behaviour. Staff build children's self-esteem and confidence, and give lots of praise and encouragement. • The manager and staff demonstrate a strong commitment to continually developing the nursery.

Staff seek and act on the views of parents and work closely with the local authority to access training and implement effective action plans. • Staff complete detailed observations of the children. This information is used effectively to ensure assessments are accurate and planni...ng supports the next steps in children's learning.

Staff support children in their play. Children enjoy talking to staff as they make sandcastles and discuss the letters they are writing. • Staff work well in partnership with local schools and other agencies.

They provide good support for children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, as they prepare them for the move to school. • Staff do not always use opportunities to extend the learning of the most able children so that they achieve their full potential. • Occasionally, staff do not give enough thought to encouraging children who speak English as an additional language to also use and develop their home language in their play.
