Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is inadequate • The premises are not secure. The provider does not take all reasonable steps to prevent access by unauthorised persons. This compromises children's safety.

• The provider, who is also the manager and the designated safeguarding lead, has failed to ensure all staff have a secure understanding of all aspects of safeguarding. • The provider does not have robust vetting and recruitment procedures in place to ensure all staff are suitable to work with children. Furthermore, staff are not aware of, nor asked to disclose, information that may affect their suitability to work with children.

• Staffing arrangements do not meet the ratio requirements... to ensure there is always a skilled and qualified member of staff working with children, including a named deputy. • The provider does not monitor staff practice effectively. She does not provide staff with the coaching, training and support they need to improve their skills and knowledge.

• Staff do not obtain written permission from parents and/or carers prior to administering medication and do not keep accurate written records each time medicine is administered to children. • There have been staffing changes in the setting, which means some children are not allocated a key person. This does not meet all children's needs effectively.

• Staff do not use assessment and planning effectively in order to provide appropriately challenging and purposeful play opportunities. Furthermore, they do not support child-initiated play effectively to engage all children in their learning. It has the following strengths • Children enjoy opportunities to be physically active and enjoy spending time outdoors in the fresh air.
