What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision does not meet requirements Although staff have completed relevant safeguarding training and know how to identify and report any concerns about children, the provider does not know when to follow up on information about children's welfare.

They are not clear about their responsibilities to work with other safeguarding partners. These breaches compromise children's safety.Children arrive confidently and happily.

They greet their friends and the staff warmly and settle quickly to an activity of their choosing. Staff provide a broad range of toys and resources, using what they know about children's interests. This helps to capture children's att...ention and to engage them deeply in their play.

Children are happy at the setting and have fun with their friends. They talk to each other and with staff playfully. The setting is filled with the sounds of excited chatter and children's laughter.

Staff get involved in children's games enthusiastically and show interest in the children when talking to them to get to know them.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The provider is not alert to potential safeguarding concerns and does not liaise with other professionals and agencies to obtain relevant information about children. Additionally, the provider does not understand how to manage allegations against staff, in line with their policy and the procedures set out by the local safeguarding partnership.

Children are familiar with the routines and understand staff's expectations for their behaviour. Children listen to staff, follow their instructions, and play cooperatively together and alongside each other. They are kind and eager to help each other.

For example, when they find other children's belongings and toys that have been brought in from home, they reunite the items with their owners.Children concentrate in their play. They focus well when they try to find and fit puzzle pieces together, take care to stay within the lines when colouring pictures and build models with clay.

While children concentrate intently on their chosen activities, they sometimes sing to themselves, demonstrating that they feel comfortable at the setting.Children develop an interest in stories. They choose to spend time quietly looking at the pictures in books by themselves and get another book when they have finished with one.

Children play imaginatively. They pretend to make their friends meals and serve them ice creams at the role-play kitchen. Children hunt for 'clues' together to solve mysteries they have made up, talking excitedly about what they find along the way.

Parents provide positive feedback about how quickly their children settle in and their children's enjoyment of attending the setting.Staff promote children's health and hygiene well. For example, they remind children to wash their hands before eating snack and after using the toilet.

Children play outdoors in the fresh air and benefit from nutritious snacks.Staff deploy themselves well and supervise and support children appropriately. For example, they use walky-talkies to communicate with each other when they escort groups of children between the indoor and outdoor areas.

The provider and staff understand and implement risk assessment effectively, to ensure the premises are safe and secure for children.Staff enjoy working at the setting and feel well supported by the provider. Staff meet regularly to talk about their ideas and they complete relevant training to keep their knowledge and skills up to date.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.There is not an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.

What does the setting need to do to improve?
