Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • The manager and staff form positive partnerships with parents. Staff complete detailed assessments of children's learning and exchange regular information about their development.

They do this in a variety of ways, such as through an online application, daily discussions, parents' evenings and newsletters. This helps to keep parents very well informed about the good progress their children make. • The manager provides staff with regular supervisory sessions to help her to oversee the quality of their interactions with children.

She carefully monitors the progress that all children make to ensure that any gaps in their learning are swiftly address...ed. Staff work closely with other professionals involved in children's care to create a shared approach to learning. • Extra funding is used well, such as to support children's physical and emotional wellbeing.

Children have good opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities. For example, they access weekly physical activities provided by a sports coach. Children enjoy other sessions, such as for mindfulness, where they learn how to show respect and tolerance for others.

• The manager includes the views of others in the self-evaluation process. For instance, parents share their views, such as ideas for food, to help promote healthy menus for children's lunches. Staff creatively reuse unwanted plumbing pipes to design water-play activities, among other good ideas.

• The manager does not fully consider how she deploys key persons, particularly during school holidays. Pre-school children usually move rooms and do not consistently benefit from the high-quality learning they normally receive during term time. • At times, some staff do not make the best use of opportunities to encourage younger children to develop their good thinking and speaking skills further.
