What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Staff warmly welcome the children as they come from their classrooms. Early years children are escorted by their teachers.
Staff talk to the children about their day while they are waiting for all the children to arrive. Children are happy, confident and keen to begin their play. They build strong relationships with the staff and each other.
Several children build complex models with magnetic shapes, and other children enjoy role play with the staff. They play with dolls and make a pretend picnic for the staff to enjoy. This promotes children's creativity and their communication and language as staff engage well and talk t...o the children about what they are doing.
Children are confident to tell the inspector about what they enjoy doing while they are at the club, for example drawing, playing on the computer with their friends and dressing up. The children tell the inspector that they can make suggestions for resources that they would like, such as a specific range of storybooks.Children behave well.
They benefit from the staff being positive role models in the way they speak with the children and each other. Staff encourage good manners and use praise to help children understand the boundaries and expectations.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
There are good procedures to ensure that staff recruited are suitable for their role and responsibility.
The committee are responsible for recruitment, and new staff have a good induction and supervision procedures to make sure their knowledge is kept up to date. Staff attend core training such as safeguarding and first aid. In addition, staff have attended training on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
This helps staff to support children in the setting.Managers and staff build strong relationships with the school, and the manager attends training with the school on specific subjects such as trauma training. This benefits the children.
There is an effective key person for the younger early years children. They know the children well and their interests, and they plan activities that they know the children enjoy.Staff build good relationships with parents and carers.
They share information with parents about what their children have been doing at the club when they collect them. Parents report that their children enjoy the range of activities and are keen to attend the club.Staff work well together and report that they feel well supported by the manager and the committee.
Children benefit from being able to use the school field in good weather. The younger children are able to use the outside area surrounding the pavilion.However, the equipment is not suitable for older children, so they use the school field.
In the summer months, children spend the majority of their time in the outside area. This promotes their health and well-being.Staff ensure that the pavilion is a welcoming environment where children feel safe and secure.
