What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Staff provide an environment where they value and respect children. Children are greeted at their classrooms warmly by staff, engaging in conversations about their day.

Staff interactions with children are good. They know children well and develop close relationships. Staff listen to children with interest.

They engage them in thoughtful conversations. Children communicate confidently and describe ideas in detail. For example, they discuss the rules of card games and plots of the books they read and show high levels of confidence.

Staff are positive role models. They encourage children to use their manners and mod...el the expected behaviours. Staff provide games for children to play together.

Children learn to be patient and take turns. They share the resources with their friends. They tell their friends they have saved some play dough for them.

Children are polite and considerate of each other. Their behaviour is good.Snack time is a highly social occasion.

Children sit and chat to their friends about their school day. Staff provide children with a range of healthy snacks while they are at the club. Staff encourage children to scrape their plates and take to the kitchen area when they have finished.

This helps children to learn important skills for the future.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff get to know the children well and plan activities through themes. Children enjoy the wide variety of activities available.

Staff consider the needs and interests of children when they plan the environment. For example, children happily look at books on arrival as they settle into the afternoon and others enjoy more physical activities, such as dodgeball. Although staff know what children like to do at the club, they do not actively seek their ideas and thoughts for more variety of activities.

Staff ensure children are safe at the club. They carry out thorough risk assessments in the indoor and outdoor environment. Children wear high-viz jackets once collected from their classrooms and wait at a designated space for the playground to be less busy before walking with staff to the club.

This helps to keep children safe.Staff have strong bonds with the children and successfully support their emotional well-being. For example, there is an effective key-person system in place for nursery and Reception age children to help them settle and feel safe.

Furthermore, staff receive daily feedback from children's class teachers about their day at school. This helps staff support the youngest children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This enables staff to support children appropriately if they need it.

Children are curious and show positive attitudes to the experiences on offer at the club. During a ball game, children take turns and cooperate with each other. Children are eager to join in and so they adjust the game to include more children and negotiate different teams and space.

This demonstrates that children are working together and using their thinking skills.Staff form effective relationships with parents. Parents speak positively about the club and comment that staff know their children well.

However, staff are not consistently making parents aware of what their children are doing at the club through verbal feedback at the end of the session. The manager and the staff team are dedicated to providing a high-quality provision. They work closely together as a team and feel well supported by senior managers.

Staff report that they feel well supported in their roles. They take part in supervision and appraisal meetings to support their training and well-being. They complete mandatory training such as safeguarding and food hygiene.

Staff have a sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and are aware of what they should do if they have a concern about a child. They are aware of different signs of abuse and what to do if they have a concern regarding another member of staff. Staff are vigilant about the safety and security of the premises.

Procedures are in place to ensure that children are only collected by authorised persons.
