What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Staff work very well with parents and the school, helping to ensure that they have an excellent understanding of children's needs and interests.

This aids children in feeling secure and settling quickly. The youngest children have a key member of staff who liaises with their early years foundation stage teachers. Staff are mindful of children's learning and targets at school and have regard to these while planning activities.

This helps to promote continuity across children's time at school and at the club.Children know what happens next as the routine is well planned and shared with them. They are reminded about the rules... and values of the club during a whole group sharing time where children's opinions and choices are highly valued.

Staff explain clearly why rules are in place, which helps children learn how to stay safe.Children have good opportunities to build on their social skills as they interact with one another. Children enjoy each other's company and have developed good relationships.

They are kind to their peers. Staff are good role models for children. They encourage children to use good manners.

Children sit together at snack time. Staff encourage children to make choices regarding food. Children use this time to talk about their day with their friends.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff encourage children to be creative. They provide a variety of craft resources and drawing materials, which children can access at any time. Staff sit with children to support and extend their ideas.

This is particularly true for younger children as they benefit from the constant reassurance of familiar staff. In addition, children snuggle up to staff as they read familiar stories to them. This supports their well-being as they become more confident in the club and get to know the older children.

Staff know children well. They tailor experiences for children based on their interests. They seek children's ideas for activities and resources.

For example, children recently requested to have more dolls and resources for them, which staff swiftly provided. This helps all children to be motivated and focused. Staff thoughtfully plan activities to incorporate seasonal topics, such as decorating poppies for Remembrance Day.

Children independently access a range of ingredients to achieve a poppy pattern. However, at times, staff carry out some tasks children could do for themselves. This means that, on occasion, children are not fully supported to develop their own ideas and build on their independence.

Staff recognise that children attending the after-school club have had a busy day at school. They provide children with ample opportunities to decide if they want to rest or play. Staff fully understand that children relish the freedom to be alone or play with others.

Children greatly enjoy being active outdoors in the fresh air. They have great fun finding items on a scavenger hunt, using torches in the dark. This helps to support children's good health and well-being.

The managers and staff understand the importance of reflection and evaluation to develop practice further. Together they regularly consider the strengths of the service offered as well as identify any areas for development. Managers act quickly when they identify areas that need further development and provide the appropriate support, training and coaching needed.

Staff have access to professional opportunities that help them improve the club for all. Staff feel committed to their roles and valued as a result.Parents are highly complimentary about the club.

They comment about the great range of activities available to their children. Parents are particularly impressed with the level of communication from the staff team. They talk about how their children want to come to the club on days when they are not due to attend.

Children also express how much they love attending the club and joining in with the activities.
