This provision meets requirements Staff carefully plan the sessions for children. They provide a good range of resources that are appropriate for the different ages of children who attend.
Children understand the club rules and expectations. For example, they put their coats and bags in a designated place as they arrive. Children thoroughly enjoy their time in this friendly and very well-organised club.
They are all engaged and full of purpose as they play together. Staff are very responsive to children. They listen to them talk about their day at school with interest.
Children show much affection for the friendly staff team. They welcome the help... that staff give them, for example, as they encounter challenges when building a structure with construction materials. Staff offer just the right amount of support to enable children to overcome these difficulties to reach a successful outcome.
Staff ensure that the atmosphere in the club is very welcoming and friendly. They greet the children warmly as they arrive. Staff are quick to respond when children ask for a particular resource.
Consequently, children feel motivated, safe and confident in their surroundings. Children behave well and show good levels of cooperation. They share popular resources, such as the toy animals, so that everyone can participate.
Staff manage any minor disagreements between children sensitively.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Children have access to a large number of resources. They know where everything is and keenly help themselves as they follow their own interests.
Children enjoy being physically active in the large, well-equipped outdoor play environment. They thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to play football or run and chase each other on the playground.The club is an inclusive environment.
All children, including vulnerable children or those who speak English as an additional language, are welcomed and valued. Managers plan carefully with parents to ensure that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are fully included in activities.Relationships with parents are particularly strong at this club.
Parents praise the 'brilliant staff' and the well-resourced environment. They say their children are extremely happy at the club and develop very close bonds with the staff. Parents are extremely happy with the service provided.
Children are provided with a range of healthy food that meets their dietary needs. They enjoy fruit and independently make their own sandwiches and choose what filling they would like. Children know to wash their hands before mealtimes and staff also model this well.
They regularly drink water throughout the afternoon and are reminded to keep hydrated by staff after they take part in physical activities. This helps children to learn about healthy lifestyle choices.Managers provide staff with supervision opportunities to reflect on their performance and provide them with support.
Staff comment that they feel well supported by leaders and managers. Managers support staff to access frequent training and professional development opportunities. This helps them to understand their role and responsibilities, with particular regard to keeping children safe.
Staff place a great emphasis on promoting children's social and emotional development. Early years children have a named key person who knows them well and supports them to feel secure. These adults ensure that children's interests are reflected in the activities that are provided.
Staff are extremely responsive to children's needs and enthusiastically join in with their games. Children build strong bonds with each other and with staff.Partnerships with the host school are strong.
Staff have good relationships with the teachers to support them to build on children's skills and knowledge. For example, they talk to staff each day as they collect the children and are aware of the topics that are being explored in school. This supports consistency for children's learning.
Children have very good opportunities to develop an awareness of the wider world they live in. Staff ensure that all children are encouraged to take part in activities, regardless of age or gender. They actively encourage discussions to challenge stereotypes when opportunities arise.
Children develop a positive attitude towards diversity and a strong acceptance for all.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff are consistent in their safeguarding procedures.
They demonstrate a good understanding of the club's policies and procedures. The provider makes sure that staff access relevant training to keep their knowledge of safeguarding up to date, including keeping children safe online. New staff are well supported to understand all policies and procedures that relate to children's welfare.
All staff know the signs that may cause them to be concerned about a child. They know their responsibilities to report any concerns immediately to the safeguarding lead or relevant service. The club works closely with the host school to ensure children's well-being.
