This provision meets requirements Children say they enjoy coming to the club. The extremely kind and welcoming staff warmly greet the children.
They show a real interest in what sort of a day the children have had at school. Children come into the club enthusiastically and settle quickly to play with their friends. They happily accept that now they must play with siblings or classmates to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
Staff provide a suitable range of activities that interest children of all ages. Children are pleased to see that staff have remembered what they were enjoying playing with. For example, staff have saved half-finished models for the ...children to complete and put out the craft materials that a group of children need to continue making cards for a game they are enjoying.
Children behave very well. Staff have high expectations for how they expect children to behave and gently remind those who forget to ask politely. Children are kind and considerate, for example, as they share resources or include others in their games.
Children say that staff are 'kind and helpful' if they choose to do their homework at the club. Staff praise children's efforts and listen to their ideas. This helps children become confident and feel good about themselves.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The owner and staff provide a range of play activities that interest and engage the children. Children invite staff to join their play and attentive staff support children's play effectively. The staff and children build strong relationships, and this helps develop children's feeling of belonging.
Staff are good role models to the children, and this supports children's social skills well.Staff make all children feel welcome. They find out about their cultural differences and the festivals that children celebrate at home and include these at the club.
For example, they learn about Diwali and try different foods, and make lamps. The owner encourages children to teach her a few words in their home languages, so they can celebrate each child's background.Staff provide materials for drawing, painting and craft activities that are immensely popular with the children.
Children thoroughly enjoy exploring their creativity and proudly show their creations to staff and friends.Overall, staff promote children's good health. Staff follow good hygiene routines.
They make sure that children clean their hands when they arrive and before they eat. Staff provide a variety of healthy snacks, including fruit. Water is freely available, but staff do not always remind children of the importance to drink regularly, especially in warm weather.
Some children forget to do this. Children enjoy playing outside, for example, practising ball skills with the staff. Some children say they would like to spend more time playing outside, which would benefit their health further.

The club staff work in close partnership with the school and pass on any essential information from the school staff to parents.COVID-19 has affected the club badly, with falling numbers of children as parents started to work from home. However, the owner remained open as she was determined to provide care for those parents who needed her service, especially key workers in the community.
Those parents are exceptionally grateful for her continuing support. Staff employed strict hygiene routines to help prevent the spread of the virus.The owner and staff work as a team to ensure the smooth running of the club.
