What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Children thrive and flourish at this exceptional setting.

Staff provide amazing activities which ignite children's curiosity and thirst for learning. Children feel extremely safe, as key persons build strong, secure and highly effective relationships with them. Young babies are confident to explore their environment.

Staff provide a tray of shredded coloured paper. Babies sit and feel this between their fingers and throw it. They giggle and clap as staff hold paper up and let it go so it flutters down on them.

Young children enjoy exploring farm animals in a tray of straw and brown paper. Staff hold ani...mal puppets and make the sounds, encouraging children to copy them. Pre-school children enjoy holding democratic votes.

They use conkers to place in jars to vote which story they want to hear. All children enjoy time outdoors in the fabulous and simulating environment. They practise small-muscle skills as they use tweezers to find pebbles with hidden numbers on, in a tray.

Riding on tricycles or climbing on wooden apparatus help to continue to strengthen large-muscle groups. Children use their critical thinking skills as they construct water features. They investigate how water can be transported.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The manager and her highly qualified staff team are passionate about children and their learning. The highly ambitious curriculum is designed to ensure all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make exceptional progress in their learning. Every member of staff understands the curriculum and implements this consistently throughout all the activities they provide for children.

Staff comment that they feel supported and well looked after. They have access to training and support to enable them to be successful. Highly effective staff supervisions and meticulous oversight by the manager ensure that the quality of teaching is of a consistently high standard.

A strong focus on communication and language throughout the nursery supports children to learn how to communicate with each other and their peers. Staff are extremely positive role models. Children are exposed to an immensely rich vocabulary of words.

They listen attentively and try and repeat words back. Staff praise them for their efforts, and this builds their self-esteem.All staff know the children extremely well.

They gather detailed information about them, their likes and dislikes, what they can do and what they need to learn next. In addition, staff ask parents what they would like their children to learn. They use this information to plan activities tailored to children's individual needs and preferences for learning.

Consequently, children show extremely high levels of engagement and spend sustained periods of time at their chosen tasks.Children's behaviour is exemplary. They demonstrate amazing kindness and respect for each other.

Children ask each other if they would like help. They pass things to one another and take turns. At circle time, every child ensures that they listen when their friends are talking.

Occasionally, younger children do struggle with self-regulating their behaviour, but as staff know them so well, they immediately recognise the triggers and support that child to communicate their needs more effectively. This teaches children to recognise and learn about the high expectations of how to behave.Lots of opportunities allow children to learn to be independent and this is encouraged and promoted throughout all age groups.

Babies are supported to start feeding themselves and move independently. Younger children are taught how to use cutlery, find their own coats and put on their shoes. Older children help to lay the table for dinner and clear their own plates and wash their own cups.

Children love the responsibility and sense of pride this gives them.Children experience the awe and wonder of the outdoors. Staff take them on daily outings.

Babies and young children are taken in pushchairs, while others walk into the park where they look at birds in the aviaries. Older children help the Royal Horticultural Society to plant flowers and shrubs. They build houses for hedgehogs.

This helps children to learn about nature.Children learn the importance of healthy lifestyles. They follow extremely effective hygiene practices.

They enjoy a wide range of freshly prepared hot meals and older children make their own sandwiches for tea. Children enjoy yoga sessions and regularly visit the older generation in the local care home to complete physical exercises with them. This delightful activity brings joy to both young and old.

Children talk about why it is important to eat well and exercise so they can grow big and strong.Parent partnerships are outstanding. The ethos is very much support for the child, as well as the family.

Activities, such as choosing vegetables to take home to make soup together as a family, are really appreciated by parents. They feel involved with their children's learning. Parents say that the staff are exceptional.

They know their children are safe and they value everything the nursery and the staff do for them.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.The manager and her staff team foster an excellent culture of safeguarding.

Highly effective policies and procedures are implemented throughout the nursery. Staff are diligent in their duty of care towards children. They recognise that safeguarding is more than looking out for signs and symptoms which may indicate a child is suffering from or at risk of abuse.

Staff say it is about ensuring the safety of the premises, carrying out risk assessments of activities and the vitally important role they play as key persons getting to know the children and their family. All staff hold an appropriate paediatric first-aid qualification. Any accidents are recorded accurately, including body maps, and shared with parents.
