What is it like to attend this early years setting?
The provision is outstanding
Children are incredibly happy and content in this warm and welcoming nursery. Children greet staff affectionally, take care of their own belongings and eagerly make choices about what they would like to do as soon as they arrive. Children thoroughly enjoy the time they spend in the outdoor area.
Children work as a team to join drainpipes together before using the different containers to pour water down them. They learn to solve problems when they realise the gaps where the drainpipes join mean the water escapes. They talk to each other about this and decide they need one longer drainpipe, which they find on the other sid...e of the garden, and work together to move it to where they need it.
Children's behaviour is exemplary. They show great concern and care for others' feelings. For example, they kindly ask children who are upset to come and sit by them.
Staff kept in close contact with children and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. The manager shared ideas for activities to complete at home. This helped promote children's emotional well-being and continuous learning.
Children make substantial progress from their individual starting points. This gives them firm foundations for their future learning success.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The manager and staff ensure children's individual needs are at the heart of everything they do.
A continuous reflective culture and excellent communication between staff ensures the educational programme and overall experiences offered to children are consistently meeting the needs of the children.The manager works closely with the local inclusion team and other professionals. The support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is exceptional.
The gaps in these children's achievements are rapidly closing as they benefit from high quality, one-to-one care and support from staff who understand their individual needs exceptionally well.Staff's welfare is given a high priority. They benefit from targeted training opportunities, such as and speech and language and early years foundation stage training.
This has helped staff develop a deeper understanding of how children learn and how they can facilitate this.Staff reinforce their expectations of children's behaviour exceptionally well. Children are highly motivated and show excellent levels of control.
For example, when a child who may need additional support changes another child's play dough creation, staff swiftly intervene. They sensitively talk to both children, which results in the one child being given the opportunity to rebuild their creation with the other child offering their help to do this.Children develop a love of reading.
They enjoy voting for their favourite stories and eagerly join in, predicting what may happen next and talking about their favourite part of the story when it has finished. Staff read with enthusiasm and skilfully change their tone of voice to reflect the mood of the story. This ignites children's curiosity and imaginations.
Children use a rich range of mathematical language as they create new shapes using coloured tiles, they exclaim with delight as they show staff how they have used two triangles to make a diamond shape. Other children remain motivated and engaged as they use coloured cotton reels to make a repeating pattern.There are excellent opportunities in place for children to learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Children enjoy taking care of the fruits growing in the garden. They enjoy tasting the strawberries at snack time and have recently made soup using the tomatoes they have grown. Staff use discussions, activities, and visual aids to help children learn the importance of oral hygiene and healthy eating.
Children are rewarded with extra time on the new nursery scooters for having healthy choices in their packed lunches.Parents express their complete satisfaction with the nursery. They are provided with in-depth information about their child's learning.
Staff continually provide them with ideas of how they can support their children's learning at home. Parents express how much their children love attending. They say all the staff are 'brilliant' and always go 'above and beyond'.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Managers and staff have an excellent knowledge of how to keep children safe. Managers test staff's safeguarding knowledge and understanding through scenarios and questions.
Staff regularly update their training, and the manager completes more advanced training. They are confident with the procedure to follow if they have any concerns about children's welfare. Children are supervised well.
The nursery frequently operates with more adults than needed to ensure children's needs and safety are well met. Children learn to assess risks for themselves during activities, such as balancing on planks, climbing up the bank and carefully coming back down. They approach these challenges with amazing enthusiasm and confidence.
