What is it like to attend this early years setting?
This provision meets requirements Children are extremely happy and show high levels of enjoyment at this well-thought-out camp.
As soon as they arrive, they are eager to start participating in activities of their choosing. Staff greet all children with enthusiasm and kindness. Children are allocated a key group according to their age during their time at the camp.
This enables staff to provide appropriate care and activities and supports younger children to feel safe and secure. Staff and children enjoy engaging in the wide range of activities available. Children have many opportunities to exercise and learn new skills.
For example, children demon...strate strong physical development as they use their legs to move themselves along on the seated skateboards. Staff provide encouragement and motivation throughout. Children cheer their teammates on and this contributes to the positive and uplifting environment.
Children behave very well. Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour and implement effective rules and boundaries. Each morning, children list the golden rules of the camp.
Children confidently explain the meaning of each rule. For example, children explain, 'You must always ask an adult before going to the toilet and go with your buddy.' Staff and children say the last rule together with passion and enthusiasm, 'Have fun, fun, fun and more fun'.
Staff are positive role models for children and they value their opinions and ideas. The atmosphere throughout the camp is calm, friendly and motivated.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
The leadership team are extremely keen to provide a high-quality, inclusive camp for all children.
They consistently seek and value the views of staff, parents and children. They encourage parents to share feedback after every camp to help them to evaluate their service. The leadership team are passionate in their striving for development and about meeting the evolving needs and interests of all children.
All staff establish secure and trusting relationships with children. They have a strong focus on the well-being of children. There is an effective key-person system in place.
Staff recognise how younger children, in particular, may need more time to settle. They get to know children's individual personalities and what makes them unique before the beginning of each week of the camp. This includes learning about children's likes and dislikes.
Staff spend time thoroughly explaining the different rules and instructions of the activities, so that all children feel confident and prepared.Staff promote healthy choices and encourage good hygiene practices, such as washing hands after being outside. Children understand the importance of looking after the environment and help staff to tidy away when they have finished playing.
Children benefit from well-organised outside areas and have daily opportunities to develop their physical skills.Leaders are passionate about empowering all staff. They provide regular in-depth training before every camp.
This enables staff to fully understand their roles and responsibilities. Staff comment that they appreciate working as a group before the camp starts, to share ideas, update their knowledge and be fully prepared. They comment that they feel valued, respected and included.
Staff support children to feel confident to communicate and share their thoughts and ideas. For example, during snack time, staff and children play 'would you rather'. Together they share their thoughts, such as which fruits and activities they prefer at the camp.
Children are confident to choose activities when they have finished eating. For example, some children start a puzzle, some look at books and some play a board game with a member of staff. Staff make excellent use of this time to have conversations with the children and further build their bonds with them.
Parents speak highly of the camp. They comment that their children, 'always look forward to coming' and how much they enjoy the, 'outstanding' activities available to them. They comment on the nurturing, friendly and caring staff that make everyone feel welcome.
Staff gather a wide range of information from parents before and during the camp, to enable them to fully meet the children's needs.
