What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is good

Children enjoy attending this family focused and caring nursery.

Leaders and staff aim to promote children's good health and well-being. For instance, leaders are working to support parents and carers to provide healthy food and drinks in children's lunch boxes. Staff ensure that children receive daily opportunities to play outside and be active.

They demonstrate good manners to children. Staff sensitively support children to understand waiting for their turn and sharing. Children happily play together.

They build strong relationships with their peers and behave positively towards each other. Leaders and staff... quickly get to know children and identify what they need to learn next. They work swiftly to put strategies in place to meet children's needs.

For example, leaders have installed an indoor slide to meet the needs of toddlers who enjoy climbing. This also helps to support their physical development. Leaders have identified that some children need targeted support to develop their communication skills.

They are beginning a programme of training to further enhance staff's knowledge of how best to continue to support these children. This excellent understanding of children's needs supports leaders and staff to tailor the curriculum. This, in turn, ensures that children continue to work towards their milestones.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children receive praise from staff for their efforts. They develop the ability to do things for themselves. For instance, children collect their own cutlery at mealtimes and pour their own drinks.

They keep on trying with difficult tasks, such as hanging up their coat. They concentrate as they balance and walk across a narrow wooden beam. Children build their resilience and confidence in their own abilities.

Staff provide targeted opportunities to support children's listening and communication skills. Children quickly learn new skills, such as counting the syllables in their name. However, some staff are still developing their skills in adapting these experiences to ensure that all children consistently benefit from them.

For example, on occasion, group sizes for activities are too large. This does not fully support all children to remain focused.Leaders have good oversight of the nursery.

They are aware of areas for staff's development. Leaders are committed to continue supporting the newly established staff team to enhance and improve their practice.Leaders and staff invite parents to attend stay-and-play sessions at the nursery during the weekends.

This allows parents to spend focused time in the nursery and talk with their child's key person. Parents are encouraged to borrow books from the nursery lending library. Leaders seek the views of parents and children by asking a 'question of the day'.

This supports parents to feel more involved and informed about their children's learning and development.Leaders and staff carry out daily checks of the premises. However, during the inspection, a small amount of litter in the outdoor area went unnoticed by staff and leaders.

The inspector highlighted this to the nursery leaders, who took immediate action to rectify this. There is no further impact on children's safety. Leaders outline their intentions to further support staff to strengthen their skills in carrying out ongoing checks of the environment.

They show a positive attitude to ensuring children's ongoing safety.Leaders and staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. They work closely with specialist advisers and health professionals.

This ensures that staff have the right skills and knowledge to support children's care needs. Leaders use additional funding to ensure that children with SEND receive further support in small groups or with their key person. Consequently, children with SEND continue to work towards their development goals.

The provider previously notified Ofsted about a significant event. This means that the provider has met their legal responsibility to notify Ofsted of such events. The inspector discussed this with the nursery leaders during the inspection and appropriate action has been taken.

Leaders have strengthened the procedures for moving children around the nursery. They have recruited more staff members to ensure high levels of child supervision. All other aspects of leadership and management are good, and children's safety continues to be assured.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.

What does the setting need to do to improve?

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: continue to support staff to adapt activities and experiences to ensure that all children fully benefit from them and extend their learning further strengthen staff's knowledge and awareness of carrying out ongoing checks of the environment, to ensure that minor hazards are more quickly identified and removed or minimised.
