They collect the youngest children from their classrooms to bring them to the club, which is located in the school building. Staff work closely with school to share relevant information about children, to promote consistency in meeting children's well-being and care needs. They are quick to respond when children need some additional support in managing their feelings.
Staff sensitively reassure and comfort children, when needed. They celebrate children's achievements, such as getting an award from school. Staff are very good role models.
They have a consistently calm and friendl...y manner, which promotes a very positive ethos in the club. Children receive a warm greeting from them as they arrive. Staff work hard to ensure that every child feels valued and an important part of the club's family.
There is a happy buzz of activity in the club. Children tell visitors that they enjoy coming to the club. They confidently talk about their favourite activities, such as making models and playing games outside.
Children demonstrate much independence as they choose the resources they want. They play together, taking turns and sharing the most popular resources. The different ages of children mix well and play together.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
Leaders demonstrate much commitment to working in partnership with families. They gather the views of children and parents to evaluate the quality of the service they offer. Staff value the feedback they receive and use that information to prioritise improvements.
For example, after receiving feedback from children, staff now involve them even more in planning the sessions in the club.Leaders have robust recruitment procedures in place to ensure that staff are suitable to work with children. They support staff well through their induction periods.
Leaders continue to develop their staff through regular meetings and provide opportunities for their professional development. Staff say that they enjoy working at the club and feel valued as a team.Children understand the club's routines well.
They sit together at the start of the sessions for snack time. Children clear away their plates and cups when they have had snack and and wait patiently for others to finish. They demonstrate very good manners, saying please and thank you without being prompted.
Children have opportunities to be physically active or relax during the club's sessions. They choose to play an energetic skipping game or sit quietly, drawing or reading. Staff are very aware of children's different needs after a busy day at school and support the choices they make.
Parents describe the club in glowing terms. They are highly complimentary about the caring staff team, who always make time to talk to them. Parents know their children are safe and happy, which gives them much reassurance.
Staff show a genuine interest when children tell them about their day at school or a special event at home. They respond positively which encourages children to share their thoughts and ideas. Children show much affection for staff and obviously enjoy their company and involvement as they play.
Staff use children's particular interests, such as football, to enhance the resources and activities in the club. They plan activities that motivate children to discover facts about the different countries playing in current competitions. For example, children learn about the flags that represent the different countries.
Staff know that children particularly enjoy being creative in different ways, such as making their own unique piece of jewellery. Children show much determination as they carefully thread beads onto string to make bracelets. Staff are quick to praise their efforts, which supports children's confidence and self-esteem.
Children are proud to show their creations to visitors.Staff ensure that children are always well supervised. They sensitively remind children to be aware of others when they are playing games in the outdoor area.
Children behave well and understand why it is important to follow the club rules.
