What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Staff have exceptionally high expectations for children's behaviour and learning in this nursery.

The atmosphere is vibrant and purposeful. From the moment children arrive, they are greeted by staff who model excellent communication, using exciting and varied vocabulary in their interactions. A wide range of describing words become part of the children's daily language, sparking their imaginations and encouraging rich conversations.

Children are encouraged to be independent learners. They demonstrate a 'can-do' attitude by persevering as they complete tricky tasks. Children's learning is further enhanced because... skilled staff allow children the time to do things for themselves.

This helps children to develop lots of resilience and confidence.Behaviour expectations are clear and consistent. Staff set firm and consistent boundaries from the outset.

As a result, children understand what is expected of them and rise to these expectations, demonstrating respect for one another and their environment. In this nursery, every moment is an opportunity for learning. Consequently, children flourish and display high levels of curiosity and mutual respect.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff support children's literacy skills extremely well. They have core stories that they want children to learn, and these are shared with parents. Children look at books independently and have book bags to take books home in.

Older children also benefit from regular visits to the library. As a result, children are able to identify how to hold a book and know where a story starts.Children count during activities and learn to match numbers to items.

They compare quantities and identify which number is bigger than another. This leads to children developing excellent mathematical skills.Children have wonderful opportunities to develop their independence skills and learn about healthy lifestyles.

For example, they learn to use a fork and begin to pour their own drinks from a young age. Older children continue to develop these skills as they learn to use a knife and fork and serve their own food. This ensures they have the confidence to handle everyday tasks and take care of themselves in a responsible manner.

Staff carefully plan opportunities to help children become more aware of diversity in cultures and ways of life. Older children travel into the city centre by tram. They are exposed to environments and communities different from their own.

This helps to nurture children's positive attitudes from a young age, which fosters their social and emotional development.Staff invite parents into the setting to read stories in their home language. As a result, children benefit from hearing different languages spoken with correct pronunciation.

Children also learn how different cultures and religions are valued and celebrated. This promotes a respectful mindset, helping children to embrace and appreciate the varying cultures within their community.Children discover and explore the natural world.

They learn how to grow their own vegetables, and observe how these turn into the food that feeds them. Children talk about the life cycle of butterflies and identify features of insects. Children's first-hand experiences with nature help them to develop their observational and critical thinking skills and an appreciation of the environment.

Staff work tirelessly to create a setting that fosters strong motivation in all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They work incredibly well with professionals to improve outcomes for children with SEND. As a result, children with SEND make excellent progress.

Parents are extremely complimentary about the nursery and staff. They say their children make excellent progress and that they feel very well informed. Staff share information with parents through regular meetings and face-to-face discussions.

This open communication enables parents to extend their children's learning at home, reinforcing what their children are learning at the nursery.Managers have high aspirations for all staff. Leaders encourage staff to develop their practice and progress in their careers.

They use a learning platform for staff to access at home, so they can access training at times to best suit their learning styles. Staff feel truly valued. During inevitable times of staff absence, the provider uses consistent support staff, who know the children incredibly well.

This ensures continuity for all children.
