What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive happily at the singing, drama and dance club and are excited for the day ahead. They experience a wide range of enjoyable exercises and games to develop their confidence that are well organised.

Children show that they are secure as the friendly and enthusiastic staff engage with them exceptionally well. They learn the importance of being confident and good communication and coordination. Children confidently stretch out their bodies to warm up and explore, using their imagination as they explore under the sea.

Staff know how to engage children well and ensure that activities are inclusive. They are skilled... at sensitively encouraging quieter children and children visiting from overseas to join in and to speak to others.Staff are good role models, and children behave well.

Staff have created an enjoyable and exciting environment where children thrive. Staff clearly explain the instructions for each game and what the children will gain from it. They regularly ask children for suggestions for their favourite game to play again.

Children excitedly choose the 'salad bowl' game to warm their voices up before rehearsal of their end-of-year show. Children enjoy each other's company, and they show care and their concern for each other.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Leaders follow robust recruitment procedures.

This ensures that staff are suitable to work with children and clear about their roles. Prior to each club operating, staff complete various training packages. This helps them to familiarise themselves with policies and procedures as well as the aim of the week's holiday club.

Staffing arrangements are well organised so that the more experienced staff can support those who have less experience. This ensures that the setting operates smoothly and children are provided with excellent levels of care.Leaders and staff organise games and exercises to promote children's confidence and communication.

For example, children listen attentively as their friends describe an adventure during the 'magic chair' activity.Staff promote children's healthy lifestyles well. The superb facilities enable children to have a large space to be physically active.

Staff encourage children to select healthy items from their packed meal for a healthy mid-morning snack. Children recognise that after rigorous activity they need to keep hydrated with water. For example, staff encourage children to have at least three sips of water at each break.

Children learn to move about in the large theatre space as they develop spatial awareness during games.Children comment that they enjoy attending the club and say that they have made new friends. They like the staff and feel safe at the setting.

Children say that they are excited for their show at the end of the club and eagerly ask visitors if they can guess their part in the performance.Children have some opportunities to develop their imagination and creativity. For instance, children enthusiastically explore a fantasy land and the characters they may meet.

During an arts and crafts session, children excitedly share with staff the postcards they have written describing their time in a fantasy land.Children behave exceptionally well. They eagerly listen to instructions about where to be during rehearsal of their show and as they move around the space.

Children confidently share their ideas. For example, they explain that it is important to 'high five' each other before taking a bow so as not to bump into each other.Parents are very happy with the service provided.

They comment that the staff are 'friendly and attentive'. Parents say that their children are keen to attend and want to come back again. They receive good communication from staff about their children's day and comment that they cannot wait to watch the show at the end of the week.

Parents are reassured that the organisation and security of the setting are good to support children's safety.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders and staff demonstrate a secure understanding of safeguarding.

They know how to identify possible signs that may indicate children are at risk of abuse or neglect. Staff understand how to work with other professionals and report any concerns about children's welfare without delay. Staff complete regular training to keep up to date with any changes in safeguarding procedures.

They have a sensitive understanding of the dangers posed to children and their families by exposure to extreme views and practices. Staff are aware of the possible risks associated with using the internet and take appropriate action to protect children. Staff understand what to do should they have a concern about a colleague.
