What is it like to attend this early years setting?
The provision is good
Leaders and staff have created a calm and friendly environment, a place where all children and families are welcome and supported.
Children arrive with big smiles on their faces and are greeted warmly by staff. This helps support children to separate from their parents and carers with ease. Staff take the time to get to know children individually.
All children are valued and have the confidence to progress in their learning journeys. Staff are excellent role models and children behave very well. There are clear and consistent expectations about how children should behave, and staff explain why certain behaviours are no...t acceptable.
Staff use timers to support children with sharing resources and during transitions. This has a positive impact on children's understanding of boundaries and their development of positive relationships with peers.Children are eager and motivated to learn.
They have lots of fun exploring the many different and engaging activities. Children enjoy pulling and rolling play dough, finding insects in the sand with magnifying glasses and making a list of their favourite foods to buy when shopping. Leaders ensure that the curriculum is ambitious and challenging for all children.
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), children from disadvantaged backgrounds and children who may need extra support are supported well by leaders and staff. This ensures that all children make good and the best possible progress in their overall development.
What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?
All children receive a good level of support.
Key persons know their children well and identify gaps in their learning and development. Staff liaise with leaders, who oversee the needs of children with SEND. Staff then create targets and implement strategies to help children to catch up in their development.
They work closely with parents and outside agencies to ensure that children have access to the support they need to make positive progress at the pre-school.Leaders ensure that the curriculum is broad and varied for all children. Children go on regular outings to local parks, take walks in the community and visit the library.
Staff use this to support children's knowledge and understanding of the world around them and of what makes them unique, as well as to make connections with their local community. This supports children to develop a sense of identity and learn valuable social skills for the future.Staff provide lots of opportunities for all children to sing songs, listen to stories and have conversations with each other.
Overall, all children, including those who speak English as an additional language, make good progress in their communication and language development. However, on occasion, some children are not given enough time to respond to questions posed to them, to further challenge their thinking.Children are focused on their learning and behave very well.
Staff praise children as they learn new knowledge and skills. Children build positive relationships with the staff and their friends. They are kind to one another and help each other when needed.
Parent partnerships are good. Staff provide daily discussions and termly meetings to inform parents of their children's progress. They provide regular ideas to support children's learning at home through a newsletter.
Parents speak positively regarding the support they receive from the staff and leaders. They describe how their children have developed in confidence since attending the pre-school and make good progress in their development.Staff support children to be independent.
Children confidently take themselves to the toilet and wash their hands. Children enthusiastically take their coats and put them on to go outside. They successfully pull up the zip on their coat.
Staff praise children for their efforts and children smile in acknowledgement. The pre-school promotes the importance of healthy eating. There is a clear healthy packed lunch policy in place.
This is shared with all parents for children who bring in packed lunches and snacks. Staff talk to children about different fruits, tastes and textures during snack time.Staff speak highly of leaders and the support they receive.
Regular supervisions allow leaders to identify strengths and weaknesses in teaching and put strategies in place to address them. Staff's well-being is a priority for leaders. This contributes to a stable and motivated staff team that feels valued and supported.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.
What does the setting need to do to improve?
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: support staff's understanding of children's language development to raise achievements further.
